摘要： A method of harvesting crops of the type falling in the genus Brassica comprises lodging the crops using a crop pusher assembly transported by a tractor and including a stationary crop pushing surface which is inclined downwardly and rearwardly from an upper top edge to a position adjacent the ground. The surface is convex and includes a bottom pivotal flap for following ground contour. The standing crop is moved to a lodged position against the ground without cutting or breaking the crop stems. This prevents shattering of the crop by maintaining the crop in the lodged position and causes the crop to continue to mature by maintaining the stems without cutting or breaking. After the crop has matured, the lodged crop is cut with a header of a combine harvester for harvesting the crop.

A second support bar, which mounts the harvester device, is connected to the first support bar by a swivel hinge. The second support bar can be pivoted relative to the first bar between a first position extending laterally outwardly from the first support bar and a second position where the second support bar is located behind the first support bar. In the first position, the harvesting device can be operated, while in the second position it is arranged for transport. It could be possible to operate the harvesting device in the second position. A belt drive for the harvesting device extends from a first pulley mounted on the first support bar to a second pulley mounted on the second support bar. The belt running between the pulleys is secured by a web and bracket arrangement to each of the first and second support bars. In the second position, the belt is folded over between the first and second support bars and remains held in place by the web and bracket arrangement.

摘要： The present invention relates to a pull type multi-pass automatic tobacco harvester adapted to be connected to a farm tractor and pulled through a tobacco field for harvesting tobacco within the field. The pull type automatic tobacco harvester includes a main frame that supports a leaf defoliator assembly and a conveying system on each side thereof for receiving the defoliated tobacco leaves and conveying them to an area of collection. Connecting the harvester to said tractor is a hydraulically actuated swingable tongue that is pivotably mounted about the front portion of said harvester's main frame. When pivotably connected to a draw bar on the tractor, said tongue may be pivoted such that the trailing position of the harvester can be laterally varied relative to the tractor such that the defoliator assembly of said harvester can be properly aligned with any one of two adjacent tobacco rows that run along one side of the tractor. To improve the row tracking capability of the pull type harvester of the present invention, the defoliator assembly is pivotably mounted about a longitudinal axis on said main frame and pivotable laterally back and forth about this longitudinal axis. This allows the row passing area defined within the defoliator assembly to shift laterally with the row being harvested due to variances in row spacing, crooks and curves in the row, and the imprecise positioning of the harvester about the row being harvested.

摘要： A swingable over-the-top tongue is provided for a windrower having a main frame positioned rearwardly of its crop cutting header. The forwardly extending tongue is upwardly arched for clearing the header above which it is disposed and is provided with a hitch at its forward end for attachment to a towing vehicle such as a tractor. The tongue is pivotally coupled to the frame for lateral swinging movement from a field-operating position to a roading position in which the tractor and the windrower are in essentially a straight-line relationship to one another presenting a minimal overall width. The tongue is further constructed in a manner to provide a fluid reservoir for hydraulically powered portions of the windrower.

摘要： A harvesting machine particularly a swather comprises a frame carrying twin headers across the front of the frame and abutting centrally of the frame. The headers are mounted on pivot couplings arranged at respective front corners of the frame and of a type which allows the header to rotate through ninety degrees to a position along side the frame while at the same time causing the header to twist abut a longitudinal axis so that when it reaches a transport position along side the frame it is also raised. The movement from field transport position can be obtained by driving ground wheels at the outer ends of the headers. The reels can be moved longitudinally of the headers to accommodate pivotal movement of the headers caused by variations in field height.

摘要： A simple draft stabilizer is provided for a pull-type harvesting implement having a trailing and transversely extending harvesting header. The stabilizer includes a vertically adjustable earth-penetrating disk blade carried by and to one side of the fore-and-aft extending drawbar. The blade is supported for rotation about a generally horizontal axis and imparts a sidewards force that counters the fallback forces generated by the offset harvesting header. The blade is also mounted to rotate about an axis substantially transversely aligned with the axes of revolution of the wheels supporting the harvesting header to permit sharp turns and avoid skidding damage to the supporting wheel and its mounting structure.

摘要： A molded rubber roll for use in conjunction with one or more additional rolls of similar construction on a hay conditioning machine. The roll has a cylindrical peripheral intermediate surface with a plurality of rows of integral lugs extending radially outwardly therefrom and a plurality of rows of depressions extending radially inwardly therefrom. When a pair of such rolls are mounted in parallel relationship on a hay conditioning machine, the intermediate surfaces of the rolls are in continuous rolling contact as the rolls rotate and the tops of the lugs of each roll contact the bottoms of the depressions in the opposite roll, thereby forming three different levels of crushing surfaces which crush the hay as it passes between the rotating rolls. The lugs and depressions are preferably circular shape but may be molded in other shapes such as diamonds, hexagons, rectangles and the like. The rolls are normally molded or splined to a metal shaft which in turn is rotatably mounted on the hay conditioner machine.
