A windshield wiper control circuit which provides continuous and pulse wiping modes and which includes a wash unit override through which the washer unit may be energized while the wiper is operating in either mode. The drive motor energizing circuit is completed through the contacts of an electrical relay, the operating coil of which may be grounded through three separate circuits including, respectively, the contacts of a selector switch and a manual wash cycle switch in parallel, a transistor Darlington pair, and two normally closed contacts which are operated by the drive motor to the electrical circuit open condition when the wiper is in the inner wipe or ''''home'''' position. When the selector switch is operated to the Run position, the relay operating coil and drive motor are continuously energized to operate the wiper in the continuous mode and when operated to the Pulse position, the selector switch ground is removed from the relay operating coil and ground therefor is provided through the transistor Darlington pair which are triggered conductive at spaced intervals by a pulse control timing circuit coupled thereto to operate the wiper in the pulse mode. When the manual wash cycle switch is operated to the Wash position while the wipers are off or in either operating mode, the washer unit is immediately activated to deliver wash fluid to the windshield during a wash cycle. In addition, the wiper motor is immediately reactivated to an operating condition. At the conclusion of the wash fluid delivery cycle, additional drying wipes are provided and then the unit automatically returns to its previous operating mode.

An apparatus for cleaning windows and wall surfaces of a building which includes a cleaning head unit having squeegee blades, cleaning fluid nozzles and brushes together with apparatus for producing a vacuum pickup between the squeegee blades. The head unit is adjustably slidable on the rail of a platform and further it is mounted for lateral sliding movement on rollers engaging rails carried by the platform. The cleaning head unit includes a linkage and which allows positioning of the unit upon the window and/or wall surfaces and withdrawl of the unit from the surfaces. The cleaning head unit also has spring members for absorbing the shock of movement over irregular configurations of window and wall surfaces which also maintains the squeegees and brush in pressure engagement with the window and wall surfaces. The cleaning head unit cleans as the same is lowered and raised with the platform.

The present invention is directed to a self-contained apparatus for cleaning the vertical surface of a building exterior, including washing, rinsing and drying the windows. The apparatus is positioned by an operator above a vertical row of windows and then remotely operated to clean the exterior building surface as the apparatus descends. The apparatus consists of a housing having a washing chamber, a rinsing chamber, and a drying chamber. The washing chamber has a plurality of cleaning fluid spray heads, a sonic agitator for impinging sonic energy onto the cleaning fluid to aid in removing dirt from the windows, air seals for retaining the fluid in the chamber, and a plurality of air wipes for removing the fluid from the building surface. The rinsing chamber has a plurality of rinsing liquid spray heads, a plurality of air seals to contain the rinsing fluid within the chamber and a plurality of air wipes for removing the fluid from the building surface. The washing chamber, rinsing chamber, and drying chamber are provided with openings communicating with a passageway ending in an exhaust outlet. An exhaust blower disposed in the passageway maintains a negative pressure in each of the chambers. A plurality of axially rotatably mounted vanes are disposed in the openings in order to regulate the negative pressure. Pressure sensors in each of the chambers are operatively connected to the vanes to vary the sizes of the openings to regulate the pressure in the chambers, in response to the actual pressures therein.
