    摘要: A method and system for enabling secure communications between an implantable medical device (IMD) and an external device (ED) over a telemetry channel. A telemetry interlock may be implemented which limits any communications between the ED and the IMD over the telemetry channel, where the telemetry interlock is released when the ED transmits an enable command to the IMD via a short-range communications channel requiring physical proximity to the IMD. As either an alternative or addition to the telemetry interlock, a data communications session between the IMD and ED over the telemetry channel may be allowed to occur only after the IMD and ED have been cryptographically authenticated to one other.

    摘要: An external programmer module adapted for physical and electrical connection to existing clinical monitoring and/or therapy instrumentation is provided for achieving bi-directional communication with an implantable medical device (IMD). The programmer module includes telemetry circuitry necessary for communicating with an IMD and a connector that allows electrical connection to a clinical instrument such as a patient monitor or external defibrillator. The connector is adapted to connect the programmer module with the power supply of the clinical instrument and may connect the programmer module with one or more features or subsystems of the clinical instrument, such as, a central processing system, a printer, an electronic storage medium, a user interface, a communications interface, or graphical display. The programmer module is enclosed in a housing adapted for physical mating with the clinical instrument, either on the outside of the clinical instrument or within an open bay designed to receive auxiliary devices.

    摘要: An implantable device is described that collects and aggregates data from non-implanted medical devices external from a body of a patient. The device may also collect and aggregate data from medical devices implanted within the body. The implantable device includes a wireless transceiver to acquire physiological data from the external medical devices, and a storage medium to store the physiological data. A processor retrieves the physiological data and communicates the physiological data to a remote patient management system. The device may collect the physiologic data from the various external data sources, possibly over an extended period of time, and stores the data for subsequent upload to a common patient management system. In addition, the implantable device may collect physiological data from other medical devices implanted within the patient. In this manner, the device provides a central point for collection and aggregation of physiological data relating to the patient.
