摘要: An extravascular nerve cuff that is configured to hold a leadless, integral, implantable microstimulator. The nerve cuff may include a cuff body having a pocket or pouch for removably receiving the implantable device within. The nerve cuff can be secured around the nerve such that the electrodes of the device are stably positioned relative to the nerve. Furthermore, the nerve cuff drives the majority of the current from the stimulation device into the nerve, while shielding surrounding tissues from unwanted stimulation.

摘要: A vital signs monitor includes an equipment housing defining an equipment compartment, a circuit assembly and a battery residing inside the equipment compartment, an electrical connector forming a connection between the battery assembly and the circuit assembly, and a battery discharge circuit. A retainer joined to the equipment housing retains the battery assembly in the housing. The retainer is separable from the housing so that its separation causes a break in the electrical connection and activates the discharge circuit.

摘要: The present invention consists of an implantable device with at least one package that houses electronics that sends and receives data or signals, and optionally power, from an external system through at least one coil attached to the at least one package and processes the data, including recordings of neural activity, and delivers electrical pulses to neural tissue through at least one array of multiple electrodes that is/are attached to the at least one package. The invention, or components thereof, is/are intended to be installed in the head, or on or in the cranium or on the dura, or on or in the brain. Variations of the embodiments depend on the physical locations of the coil(s), package(s) and array(s) with respect to the head, cranium, dura, and brain. Novel features of the present invention include the small size of the implantable package which houses the controller, the high number of electrodes that are provided for stimulation and/or sensing and stimulation, and the methods for manufacturing such a device. These features have unique applications in neural stimulation to treat or prevent disorders or disease.

摘要: Various configurations of systems that employ leadless electrodes to provide pacing therapy are provided. In one example, a system that provides multiple sites for pacing of myocardium of a heart includes wireless pacing electrode assemblies that are implantable at sites proximate the myocardium using a percutaneous, transluminal, catheter delivery system. Also disclosed are various configurations of such systems, wireless electrode assemblies, and delivery catheters for delivering and implanting the electrode assemblies.

摘要: A polymer film coating for medical devices and medical devices with coating are provided to controllably release one or more therapeutics or other agents locally at the tissue-device interface for a prolonged period of time. The coating can be prepared via layer by layer (LbL) assembly of polymers and/or polymers conjugated to or otherwise associated with one or more drugs, particularly recyclable antioxidants or antioxidant regulators. The resulting coating contains alternating layers that are assembled via electrostatic interactions, hydrogen bonding, or other secondary interactions. The coated device can provide for long term local delivery of antioxidants, preferably antioxidant upregulators and/or recyclable antioxidants, to modulate the oxidative stress associated with brain implants.

摘要: There is provided a controlled-release antibiotic socket for securely holding an implantable medical device that is made from: at least one film having at least one polymer layer, where the at least one film is formed into the socket; at least one antibiotic agent; and at least one opening in the socket, where the at least one polymer layer comprises a biodegradable elastomeric polymeric material; and the at least one antibiotic agent is dispersed within at least one of the at least one polymer layers and/or, when the film comprises at least two polymer layers, the at least one antibiotic agent is disposed as a separate layer between two polymer layers. Also disclosed is the film used to make the socket and uses of both the socket and film.
