The invention relates to a playground equipment comprising a platform for a user to sit or stand on and mounted to the ground via a first shaft and a second shaft. The shafts are connected to each other at an angle and coupled in a gear transmission system. Because of the gearing between the shafts a first rotational speed of the first shaft yields a second rotational speed of the second shaft different from the first rotational speed. The gear transmission system may comprise an epicyclic gear train such as a planetary gear system. The gear transmission system may yield a gear ratio in the range of 1.5-10 such as in the range of 3-7.

A thrill-ride apparatus having as a basic concept the revolving of a rider station, whose support provides that the path of the ride will be along an inclined plane. The rider station is fixed to a support arm; and there is no counterbalance as to the weight of the support arm, rider's station, and the rider. The path of the rider is thus such that he must incrementally achieve not only the revolution with respect to the ground and the axis of the support structure, but by such oscillating incremental efforts achieve a raise from "bottom dead center" to "top dead center" as supported by the base of the apparatus.

An exercise and amusement device to swing a user in a circular path about a preselected tilted upright axis wherein the device consists essentially of a bar formed to define two sections, one at an angle to the other, rotatably mounted on the ground or other base. A container, or ground cavity, surrounds the lower section of the device to carry therein a dry, non-fluid, granular material in contact with at least a portion of the lower section of the bar. Such material provides frictional drag against rotation of the bar, thus providing constraint and variety to circular movement experienced by the user.

An amusement ride, which can be transported in a collapsed condition on the truck bed that supports the same during use; such ride employing a main drive motor, which is mounted in a gimbal fashion at the top of a vertical support column, that centrally supports and drives a great wheel that partakes in the gimbal motions of the drive motor. A gimbal drive motor is also mounted adjacent the top of the column and serves to cause a gimbal movement of the main drive motor so that axis of the great wheel describes a conical surface in space and moves between a horizontal and vertical position with the great wheel being above the top of the column in the latter position. Passenger seats are pivotally supported from the periphery of the great wheel in such a manner that they are above the great wheel when the axis of the latter is vertical.

A rider actuated amusement device comprises a base which at one end includes a transverse crossbar supported on swivel casters. A shaft which is downwardly inclined toward the opposite end of the base is axially secured but rotatably free in a bearing of the base. A circular disc is fixed on the lower end of the shaft, the disc and swivel casters forming a three point support for the device. A transverse handlebar extends through the upper end of the shaft. A mounting member fixedly secured to the shaft between the handlebar and base bearing has a seat on the upper portion close to the shaft and a downwardly dependent portion extending below the shaft and having a foot rest bar for the rider's feet, whereby the rider shifting his weight to either side causes the disc to roll a short distance and the casters to move so that the location of the device with respect to the ground or supporting surface changes.
