    摘要: Three vectoring ring support and actuation apparatuses are disposed in an equi-angular manner circumferentially about the engine casing. Each of the vectoring ring support and actuation apparatuses includes a vectoring ring means to transfer side loads from the vectoring ring to the engine casing, a vectoring ring translation means for allowing the ring to be translated, and a support pivoting means and ring gimballing means to allow the vectoring ring attitude adjustments by a set of linear actuators. The vectoring ring support apparatus transfers side loads acting on a vectoring ring and generated by a gas turbine engine thrust vectoring nozzle to a relatively stationary portion of the engine and allows tilting of the vectoring ring to vector the thrust of the nozzle. Each linear actuator is connected by a slider bar to the vectoring ring, a first actuator joint connects the linear actuator to a forward end of the slider bar, and an aft actuator joint connects an aft end of the slider bar to the vectoring ring. The aft actuator joint preferably is a ball joint having three rotational degrees of freedom and the forward actuator joint is preferably a clevis joint.

    摘要: A voice-controlled shower system for use with a conventional shower assembly includes sources of hot and cold water, a showerhead, and a conduit for delivering water from the water sources to the showerhead. Each water source includes a control valve coupled to a control unit. The control unit is adapted to store electric impulses representative of a predetermined vocabulary of voice commands. The shower system further includes a receiver for receiving a speech input from a user and delivering corresponding electric impulses to the control unit. The electric impulses of the speech input are compared by the control unit to the electric impulses of the vocabulary of voice commands, the control unit actuating predetermined control valves upon recognizing a match so as to start or stop the water flow from the water sources to the showerhead or to adjust the water temperature. The shower system may also include a plurality of liquid containers, each container including a tube member with a control valve for selectably communicating a respective liquid with the water conduit. A respective container control valve is actuated upon a recognition of a speech input as matching an appropriate command of said vocabulary of voice commands.

    摘要: The horsepower requirements for the actuation system for a convergent/divergent exhaust nozzle for a gas turbine engine is reduced by the judicious selection of the crank arms and their location on a torque shaft that rotates to move a connecting link attached to the convergent flap of the nozzle. A pressure balancing hood is attached to the top surface on the forward end of the convergent flap to augment the lowering of the horsepower requirements. In another embodiment a tie rod/end cup arrangement and two piece torque shaft are utilized for ease of removal of the actuation system from the exhaust nozzle assembly.

    摘要: A nozzle where the sector into which noise reduction is sought (the direction of populated areas) has a moving lip, driven by actuators in an oscillatory, periodic or sinusoidal motion, around the mid position, to and from the axis, so as to cause the shear layer to become more irregular and turbulent, thus enhancing scattering effects on the sound of internal sources, including back reflection into the jet, widening the directivity pattern and spreading the acoustic energy into a broader spectrum, so as to reduce the acoustic energy transmitted in these sensitive directions; the nozzle lip may also be corrugated, undulated or have vortex generators, in the sector over which noise reduction is sought. In all other sectors, for which noise radiation is of no concern, even if enhanced, the nozzle lip is smooth and fixed, leading to a thin shear layer, across which sound is more easily, so that acoustic energy exits from the jet in these harmless directions. The active nozzle need only be actuated at times when noise reduction is needed, e.g. a take-off and landing; at all other times, when noise reduction is not needed, e.g. in cruise flight, the nozzle is not active, i.e. is fixed in the mid-position, to save actuator power, and wear and fatigue of moving mechanisms; also, this position, minimizes any thrust loss or increase in fuel consummation, in cruise flight.
