    摘要: A method and apparatus for accurately applying a cord to a rotatable mandrel utilizes control of cord length, rather than cord tension, as the control parameter. The apparatus includes a mandrel with an inflatable diaphragm mounted on an outer surface of the mandrel. The diaphragm is selectively inflatable via a control valve and source of pressurized fluid for dynamically adjusting a circumference of the mandrel in response to a control input. The control input reads a tension in the cord being wound. The cord is positively fed to the mandrel according to a defined algorithm based on the mandrel's shape, circumference and rotational speed, rather than by demand feed of the cord. The apparatus includes a positive feed control capstan which is electronically geared. The apparatus further includes a cord-laying wheel which isolates radially directed forces from circumferentially-directed forces. A second embodiment of the invention includes the belt being rotated on first and second pulleys while the cord is applied. A center distance between the first and second pulleys is selectively adjustable to control cord tension in the cord.

The material is for sealing threaded pipe joints. The device may be motorized for rotational motion, for example by attachment to a power tool. The device may also have a locating portion for engaging an end of a pipe to which the filamentary material is to be applied. The locating portion may act as an automatic adjuster of the position of the device. Relative rotation of the dispensing aid and the automatic adjuster actuates the automatic adjuster. The device allows for ease of application of pipe sealant material to pipes and may be hand-held.

A helicoidal counterweight plate is fixed to the tubular body diametrally opposite the mounting plate and has radial and axial dimensions, at least one of which varies such that any section of the counterweight plate counterbalances a corresponding diametrally opposite section of the guide tube and mounting plate. The counterweight plate has a resonant frequency and the body has a nominal maximum rotation speed that is less than the resonant frequency.

The pipe has an entry end arranged to receive a product, and an intermediate portion defining a curved guide path leading from the entry and to a delivery end spaced radially from the quill axis and from which the product is discharged as a helical series of rings. A guide defines a helical extension of the guide path, and comprises a helical support plate projecting outwardly from the quill. A plurality of channel-shaped guide sections supported end to end on the support plate. The guide sections form a segmented radially outwardly facing helical trough surrounded by a cylindrical shroud that cooperates with the guide sections to definee radially and axially confined helical extension of the guide path.

    摘要: The invention is an apparatus and method for accurately applying a cord to a rotatable mandrel while manufacturing cord reinforced articles. The apparatus includes a rotating build mandrel, a cord supply, and a feed capstan for assisting in feeding cord from the cord supply to the mandrel along a defined cord path. At least two drums of differing diameters are located in the cord path. Encoders are connected to each drum for measuring at least the angular movement of the drum. Using the angular movement of the drums, the effective pitch line differential of the cord is determined.

    摘要: A coil-laying device has a body having a generally cylindrical outer surface centered on and rotatable about an axis and wall structure forming on the surface a radially outwardly open groove having an intake end, a center, and an output end. The groove has an axial dimension that decreases from the intake end to the center and that increases from the center to the output end. The groove has an angular dimension of about 360° and the center is located about 250° from the output end, so that the center is spaced between 0° and 110° from the intake end. Furthermore the groove is defined between walls that taper together between the intake end and the center at a predetermined angle and that diverge from the center to the output end at a larger angle.
