    摘要: The present invention is directed to an internally threaded prevailing-torque type self-locking fastener which employs a patch of fused thermoplastic material as the locking element and which satisfies the functional torque requirements of both IFI 100/107 (1987) and IFI 101 (1987). In accordance with the present invention the fastener comprises a metal body having a bore extending to its opposing ends, the bore having a threaded surface; a patch of polymeric material applied and fused to a portion of the threaded surface; and the fastener meeting the prevailing-torque characteristics specified in both IFI 100/107 (1987) and IFI 101 (1987). The invention is also directed to a process wherein an internally threaded fastener is processed by first applying and fusing a polymeric resin material to at least a portion of the fastener's threaded surface and thereafter conditioning the frictional properties of the fastener such that its prevailing torque performance characteristics meet both IFI 100/107 (1987) and IFI 101 (1987).

    摘要: A forging method which enables formation of a hollow part by simple processes. In a cutting process, a cylinder blank 1 is cut at the upsetting ratio of L/D=1.5-2.0. In a first process, the cylinder blank 1 is upset in accordance with the outer shape of a nut. The height h of a semi-manufactured product 2 should be lower than the height h of a final product 4. In a second process, dents 3a and 3b are formed on both sides by extrusion. The depth of the dents 3a should be deeper than the other. The height of the semi-manufactured product 3 in the second process should be as tall as the height of the final product 4. In a third process, piercing is performed to the bottom portion of the deeper dent 3a so that both dents 3a and 3b can communicate.

In the preferred embodiment, the tap driver includes helical coils imparted in the tap driver body which allow the attachment body to synchronize axially in response to a force of a predetermined magnitude imparted on the tap. An additional embodiment of this invention provides such a tap driver body wherein the body allows for lateral flexure and movement to compensate for feed error and location error.

The one-piece flag nut is formed by an extrusion process, and preferably formed to have ribs provided on the flag portion thereof which provide strength to the flag nut. The outer edges of the flag portion are preferably rolled to prevent the flag portion from being hung up on the structure during the installation process, thus preventing the flag nut from being properly seated.

    摘要: A thread tapping machine for tapping female threads into a series of associated articles that are held in an associated stationary fixture includes a housing mounted for reciprocating movement toward and away from the stationary fixture. The housing is rotationally fixed. A spindle is carried by the housing for reciprocating movement therewith and for rotational movement within the housing. A shank is carried by the spindle and is configured for rotational and reciprocal movement with the spindle. The shank has a flute tap section, an elongated shank body, a transverse section opposite the flute tap and a bent section between the transverse section and the elongated body. The housing is moved toward and into contact with a first of the series of articles with the spindle rotating so that the flute tap section engages the article to form a thread therein. When the article is released from the fixture, in conjunction with the housing reciprocating away from the fixture, the article is urged along the shank, away from the flute tap section to and around the bent shank and ejected therefrom.

The cutback facilitates less stresses being induced into the first thread portion.
