    摘要: A method and apparatus of assembling a joint of an endless track chain for track-type machines to prevent endplay in the joint is disclosed. The joint includes a pair of links and a cylindrical pin. Each link includes a outwardly offset outboard end collar having a boss extending outwardly therefrom and a bore therethrough. Each boss has an outer surface. The pin includes opposite end portions. Each end portion is pressed and non-rotatably mounted into respective one of the bores of the outboard end collars. The method comprises the steps of forming an annular groove about each of the end portions, placing a swage tool against the outer side surface of the boss in axial alignment with the pin, and applying a sufficient force on the swage tool to form at least one mechanically formed nodule protruding from the outer side surface into a respective ones of the grooves. The nodule having a cross-sectional configuration substantially conforming to the groove.

The surface texturing is formed by forming a series of grooves by the process of diamond-cutting the surface of the jewelry piece to divide the surface thereof into a plurality of adjacent, four-sided regions, each of which is bounded by four diamond-cut grooves and defines a mesa with at least four light-reflecting sloping sides. The mesas are further subdivided by forming a pair of diamond-cut grooves that criss-cross one another, thereby dividing the mesas in the four-sided regions into four sub-mesas, each having at least three sloping light reflecting sides. Preferably, first gemstones are set at the junctures of the four-sided mesas and second gemstones are set at the center, where the four sub-mesas meet.

    摘要: A method of manufacturing jewelry and a chain article formed therefrom that results in a product substantially lighter than its solid counterpart. A length of wire mesh or woven wire type of “fabric” having a hollow seamed wire with a non-precious core of a width and length corresponding generally to the proportions of the jewelry chain to be created is provided. The non-precious core is then removed by one of many methods. Then, a series of hollow link sections are received on the length of wire mesh such that the interior surfaces of the links surround the mesh. The links are arranged in an end-to-end abutting relationship upon the mesh until the length of chain desired is reached. Alternatively, a spiral resembling a spring may be used. Upper and lower die members are brought into contact with the preformed chain and forced there against with a magnitude of pressure and for a duration of time sufficient to deform the links or spiral and bring the inner surfaces thereof into at least partial engagement with the mesh.
