Abstract:
In a process for casting a metallic semi-finished product into a casting, the semi-finished product is roughened on a surface which faces the casting, then being placed in a defined position in a casting mold and surrounded with casting metal, after which a firm bond is formed between the semi-finished product and the solidified casting metal at the roughened surface. The surface of the semi-finished product is roughened by high-pressure water blasting.
Abstract:
A method is provided for manufacturing a cylinder for an internal combustion engine, which makes it possible not only to manufacture the cylinder by a high-pressure die casting method at low cost and in high precision, but also to prevent relative misalignment among the scavenging port, suction port and exhaust port of the cylinder. This method is characterized by the steps of: preparing a cylinder liner made of an aluminum alloy pipe and provided with the scavenging port, and a bore-core die as well as cores for scavenging ducts both being uncollapsible and configured so as not to intrude into the scavenging ports; setting the cylinder liner in place in the bore-core die; and casting, by means of metal mold casting method, an aluminum alloy onto the outer peripheral surface of the cylinder liner to thereby mold a main body of the cylinder.
Abstract:
A cylinder block production method is characterized by having, as a step prior to a cast-enclosing step of cast-enclosing a cast iron-made cylinder liner within a cylinder block body, an erosion-wash step of washing an outer peripheral wall surface of the cylinder liner and eroding a portion of a base structure of the cast iron forming the outer peripheral wall surface of the cylinder liner so as to form many small protrusions on the outer peripheral wall surface by jetting a high-pressure fluid onto the outer peripheral wall surface of the cylinder liner, in order to improve strength of adhesion between the cylinder liner and the cylinder block body. Since the base structure is partially eroded, complicated-shape small protrusions can be formed. Furthermore, sand and a mold release agent adhering to the outer peripheral wall surface of the cylinder liner can be removed. Therefore, the adhesion strength will improve.
Abstract:
An impermeable ceramic mold is disposed within a steel die and used in a process for pressure casting of elevated melting temperature alloys and pressure infiltration casting of elevated melting temperature alloys having wear resistant particles, included therewith. The ceramic mold provides an insulation layer between the molten metal and the steel die, and prevents welding between the molten metal and the die. The alloy steel die encloses the ceramic mold and provides the strength needed to resist the pressures generated during pressure infiltration casting.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a liquid-solid rolling bonding method for heterogeneous metals and an apparatus therefor. The method comprises: pouring a liquid metal onto the surface of a heterogeneous solid base metal coated with a soldering flux; rolling the liquid metal and the solid metal under pressure; solidifying the liquid metal and making it bond to the surface of the solid base metal under rapid cooling to realize metallurgical bonding of the two or more metals. The apparatus comprises an unrolling machine, a soldering flux tank, a drying-heating apparatus, a pouring nozzle, an interior water-cooling rollers and a roll-collecting machine arranged in order, a pouring basket is disposed above the pouring nozzle and a base frame is disposed below the pouring nozzle. The present invention has the advantages of high bonding strength, lower production cost, high production efficiency, good product quality, fewer investment for the apparatus and lower consumption of energy. The method of the present invention can replace the convention rolling bonding method in solid-solid phase and is suitable for the production of various clad metal sheets and strip.
Abstract:
A process of fabricating a light alloy casting, such as an aluminum alloy casting, including at least one metal insert includes applying a coating of lampblack to a face of the insert intended to be in contact with the alloy of the component and casting the component with the molten alloy in a mold cavity in which the insert is positioned. Applications include fabricating engine blocks with integrally cast liners made of cast iron.
Abstract:
To provide a process for producing a cylinder block with a sleeve in which arc recesses for avoiding interference with the umbrella portions of valves are formed at an intersection between a deck face and a cylinder bore. A sleeve is cast in such a manner that it is embedded in a cylinder block with a space from a deck face simultaneously with the molding of the opening end portion of a cylinder bore and recesses in the cylinder block in the space with a bore pin mated with a sleeve.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a crankshaft supporter having a bearing holding section that holds a bearing for supporting a crankshaft, and that is cast in aluminum alloy with a preform cast inside, the preform having a through hole extending therethrough. Provided are a core pin to process the through hole, and a pin hole shaped in the preform to accommodate the core pin. The core pin includes a pin insert section having an outer diameter less than inner diameter of the preform pin hole, and a head section having an outer diameter greater than the inner diameter of the preform pin hole. The pin hole insert section is inserted into the pin hole to contact the head section with an outer surface of the preform for securement inside a mold for casting. The core pin is removed during subsequent cutting of a larger diameter hole through the cast bearing holding section.
