Abstract: A boring tool holder has a base member and a cutting insert holding member. The base member has a first main surface and a second main surface opposite to the first main surface. The cutting insert holding member is contiguous to the base member on the first main surface, and disposed in a circumferential direction of the base member as viewed in a direction from the first main surface toward the second main surface. A cross-sectional area of the base member in a cross section perpendicular to the direction from the first main surface toward the second main surface and intersecting the base member is larger than a cross-sectional area of the cutting insert holding member in a cross section perpendicular to the direction from the first main surface toward the second main surface and intersecting the cutting insert holding member.

Abstract: A boring-bar arrangement includes a boring bar, a securing device, and a clamping bolt. The securing device has a reduction sleeve, which is secured in a tool chuck, which has a front end that faces away from the tool chuck and a protruding hollow section which receives the boring bar. The hollow section has a hollow-section interior, a hollow-section outer wall, and a hollow-section wall which is arranged therebetween. The hollow-section wall has a first thickness in a side region where the cutting tool protrudes from the boring bar which is less than a second thickness in a rest of the hollow-section wall. The boring bar is releasably secured as a replaceable head, via its back end, at a front end of the protruding hollow section. A front end of the clamping bolt has a male thread which sits in the female thread of the boring bar.

Abstract: An axle boring assembly includes a portable power head or drive unit, a bearing pack to which the drive unit is attached, an adjusting base to which the bearing pack is adjustably secured and a mounting assembly which fits over a motor vehicle axle and to which the adjusting base is secured. The mounting assembly comprises a first section having axially spaced apart front and rear clamps and a substantially identical second section with matching spaced apart front and rear clamps. Threaded fasteners extend between the front and rear clamps and may be rotated to secure the mounting assembly about the end of the axle. Each clamp includes jaws which contact the axle and which may be selected from sets of various sizes and configurations to ensure accurate and suitable engagement of the axle.

Abstract: A boring bar for a non-rotating boring tool includes an elongated body configured for attachment to a support structure of a metal cutting machine and arranged to carry a tool part provided with a cutting element. At least two electrically controlled vibration actuators are arranged for active vibration damping of the boring bar. Each actuator includes a moveably arranged damping mass configured to generate vibratory forces in parallel with a working axis of the actuator that is perpendicular to a center axis of the damping mass. Each actuator is a single-axis actuator having one single working axis, wherein the actuators are arranged with their working axes angularly offset from each other. The actuators are arranged in a longitudinal series in the elongated body with the center axis of the damping mass of each actuator coinciding with a longitudinal axis of the elongated body.
