This method comprises forming spirally on the peripheral surface of the hob blank projections having a section defining an involute tooth profile by means of a cutting tool, cutting and forming a plurality of blade spaces intersecting said projections to thereby form a plurality of spirally continuous hob blades, and forming reliefs on the side faces and peripheral face of each hob blade so that as the blade faces of the hob are cut, the tooth profile of each hob blade corresponds to the tooth profile before cutting with a certain amount of addendum.

    摘要: In one example, an on-wing apparatus for in-situ cutting on a wing-to-fuselage attachment includes a first linear bearing disposed on a first mount plate to move in a first direction. A second linear bearing is disposed on a second mount plate to move in a second direction. The second mount plate is attached to the first linear bearing. A tool mounting member is attached to the second linear bearing. A cutter is attached to the tool mounting member to be adjustable, relative to the second linear bearing, in a rotational direction around an adjustment axis. One of the first direction and the second direction is a depth direction of the cut parallel to the adjustment axis, and the other is a length direction of the cut. A width position of the cut is determined by rotational adjustment of the cutter with respect to the second linear bearing in the rotational direction.

    摘要: A spherical hob for generation of a gear comprises a symmetrical frustospherical body in the form of a sphere truncated at two opposed extremities thereof, the body having an axis of symmetry perpendicular to the extremities. A hole passes through the body coaxially with the axis. Formed spirally about the axis on the peripheral surface of the body are projections having a section in a plane including the axis in the form of an involute tooth profile. Formed on the peripheral surface of the body, across the projections is a plurality of equidistantly arranged spaces dividing the projections into a plurality of spirally continuous hob blades, each having an involute tooth profile. Reliefs are formed on the side faces and the peripheral face of the hob blades so that as the blade faces of the hob blades are cut and sharpened, the tooth profile of an imaginary gear generated by rotation of the hob about the axis is gradually displaced to attain an addendum to the tooth profile, whereby after cutting and sharpening of the hob blade faces after said faces have become dull from use in cutting gears in gear blanks, shifting of the hob toward a new gear blank by a distance corresponding to the magnitude of undercut of the peripheral relief results in cutting in the new gear blank of a gear generated in gear blanks before cutting and sharpening of the blade faces.

    摘要: The present invention relates to embodiments of a cutting tool holder (10) having at least one insert pocket (13), wherein at least one insert pocket comprises a side surface (15) and at least one antirotation stop (16) protruding from the side surface. The antirotation stop may comprise at least two substantially planar surfaces. In certain embodiments, the cutting tool holder may have a pocket which comprises a bottom surface and an antirotation stop having three substantially planar surfaces that are substantially perpendicular to the bottom surface. The antirotation stop may be integral to the tool holder or may be produced separately and attached, either permanently or temporarily, to the tool holder. Embodiments may further comprise additional antirotation stops is desired by the machining application. In one embodiment, the cutting tool holder includes an insert pocket in the tool holder and at least one antirotation stop protruding from at least one of a side wall and the bottom surface of the insert pocket, wherein the antirotation stop comprises at least two substantially planar surfaces. A cutting insert (12) may be secured in the tool holder, wherein the cutting insert has a recess (17) having a shape that is non-complementary to the shape of the antirotation stop and may be made from tungsten based carbide or cermet.
