    Abstract: A binding device for hole-punched paper and other items can be made from a sheet of material without necessarily requiring metal or plastic parts. The device can include a tie and an arrangement of openings cut in a sheet of material to secure the tie in place and withstand the load of bonded hole-punched paper or other items. Some devices can exhibit flexible thickness, adjusting automatically to the thickness of items being bonded.

    Abstract: A binder for releasably retaining loose-leaves. The binder has a front cover that lies flatly beneath its back cover when the binder is open 360 degrees. The rings of the binder can rotate around an edge of the flatly-folded cover to enable loose-leaves to lie flat above and below the cover. The binder also has a skeleton with a minimal cross-section spine which may be partially or completely embedded in a cover and rotates in relation to parallel front and back covers when the binder is open 360 degrees. The front cover, middle cover and back cover are connected in a way so that they do not interfere with the rotation of the rings. Mechanisms to open and close the rings of the skeleton to allow addition or removal of loose-leafs, and ring shapes to optimize or stabilize the capacity of the binder during operation are also disclosed.

    Abstract: A document file is disclosed having a quick release clamping mechanism. The mechanism includes a tube of resilient and flexible plastic having a central portion anchored in the file and two end portions onto which documents with punched holes can be threaded. The mechanism includes a clamping plate also to be threaded onto the two end portions and having clamping tongues under which the free end portions of the tube can be wedged after passing through holes in the clamping plate. Each clamping tongue has a cam surface to improve the wedging action it imparts to the end portions of the tube.
