摘要： A step for mounting in a trailer hitch which is adjustable in the vertical and horizontal positions. A joining member has displaced connecting ends sized to fit both a standard trailer hitch and a mounting bracket on the step. One or more fastening points in at least one of the connecting ends of the joining-member enables adjustment of the position of the joining member to the trailer hitch. Rotation and reversal of the joining member provides for a variety of adjustments in the vertical and horizontal position of the step with relation to the trailer.

摘要： An adaptor for permitting a user to couple a fifthwheel trailer having a kingpin to a tow vehicle having a gooseneck hitch mechanism with a hitch ball is provided. The adaptor includes an upper portion which receives a portion of the kingpin and is forced into abutting contact with a kingpin plate of the trailer by a clamp member. A lower portion of the adaptor mates with the upper portion in telescoping fashion to provide adjustability. A hitch ball coupler for receiving the hitch ball of the gooseneck hitch mechanism is provided at a bottom of the lower portion. Once the converter is attached to the kingpin of the fifthwheel trailer, the trailer functions as any other gooseneck trailer.

The adapter comprises a vertically adjustable body and a remotely operated latching mechanism. The adapter further comprises a bell-shaped opening for receiving the ball hitch, the bell-shaped opening being larger than the ball hitch. The invention further comprises a method of coupling a first vehicle with a king pin and king pin box mounted thereon to a second vehicle with a ball hitch. A hitch adapter kit is also disclosed.

摘要： A hitch ball engaging assembly provides a socket to receive a hitch ball with at least one locking element. A rotatable locking collar rotates between first and second positions respectively to move the locking element between a locked state and an unlocked state. A latch can be provided to retain the collar in the first and/or second positions. The locking element(s) may be ball(s) in holes in the socket and the collar has cam surfaces to move the ball(s). The hitch ball engaging assembly may particularly be used in an adapter to interconnect a pin connector of a fifth wheel coupling to the hitch ball of a gooseneck coupling. Here, an extension member is provided with a pin connector assembly to secure the fifth wheel pin on one end and the hitch ball engaging assembly on the other end. The invention includes methods accomplished by these structures.

摘要： A conversion system for enabling a camper trailer with a king pin to be towed by a vehicle having a ball-type hitch. The system includes a clamp comprising two U-shaped members adapted to be fitted around the king pin of the trailer, a plate which is connected to the U-shaped members, a neck which is connected to the plate, and a socket at the lower end of the neck for connection to a conventional ball-type hitch. The conversion system can be attached to any conventional gooseneck camper trailer without modifying or damaging the trailer or the hitch. Then the camper trailer can be towed by a truck with a conventional ball-type hitch.

An axle is connected to the bottom side of the hitch-supporting selector plate, and the axle is inserted into the axle reception channel.
