摘要： A motorized seat belt retractor configured to be activated in response to a signal generated by a dangerous state detection device indicating that a vehicle is in a dangerous state. The retractor is configured so that in response to the signal the retractor operates to retract a seat belt webbing prior to a collision thereby restraining an occupant positioned in a seat in the vehicle. The retractor is activated every time a signal indicating that the vehicle is in a dangerous state is received from the detector.

摘要： A seat belt retractor is provided in which a torsion bar of an energy absorption mechanism and a ratchet wheel of an emergency locking mechanism can be easily combined in a constant angular phase without requiring any special precise working, which always stably operates without causing any problem such as that the emergency locking mechanism is out of synchronization, and in which an energy can be effectively absorbed without accompanying any time delay. As means for attaining the object, a coupling portion 5b of a torsion bar 5 with respect to a ratchet wheel 41, and an insertion hole 41c of the ratchet wheel 41 into which the coupling portion 5b is to be fitted and squeezed are made to have a polygonal section shape in which concaves and convexes are formed at a predetermined interval in a circumference direction, and a rib-like projection 8 for biasing the torsion bar 5 in the insertion hole 41c in the rotating direction in drawing out of the webbing to cause respective concaves and convexes to come mutually in press contact with each other in the direction is formed on an inner face of the insertion hole 41c. Thus, the torsion bar 5 and the ratchet wheel 41 are always combined in a constant angular phase, and any time delay cannot be caused in twist deformation of the torsion bar 5.

A load limiting means has a torsion bar extending through the spool and connected in a force path between the locking means and the webbing. One end of the torsion bar is attached to the spool, and the opposite end of the torsion bar is attached to a toothed wheel, wherein said opposite end of the torsion bar is connected to the toothed wheel in an axially adjustable manner.

摘要： A retractor for a vehicle safety restraint which comprises web locking wedges (49a, 49b) which grip the seat belt webbing (19), under certain predetermined load conditions, so as to more securely restrain the vehicle occupant at the beginning of a crash pulse and which includes a load limiting arrangement so as to allow a limited and controlled pay out of webbing at the beginning of the crash pulse. The web locking retractor thus comprises a wedge (49a, 49b) which has an inner gripping surface with a predetermined coefficient of friction relative to the seat belt webbing so that, at a predetermined loading, the webbing slips past the friction surface of the wedge. This may be achieved by using double thickness webbing along a predetermined portion of the seat belt, for example two layers of webbing, or coating the wedge or a part of the webbing with a material (322) which is erodible or deformable and which may be cut into or eroded by the friction surface of the wedge, or by teeth (320) on that surface. Alternatively or in addition, the wedge comprises a cylindrical drum shaped member of which the outer curved surface is the gripping surface, the drum having a torsion bar arranged along its axis fixed against rotation at one end to the wedge housing and fixed to the cylindrical wedge at a point spaced from the end.

In a state in which the stopper also is installed, not only press-in load in a thrusting direction, but also press-in load in a radial direction is applied between the lock base and a spool such that a structure is fixed.
