摘要: In a pretensioner mechanism of a webbing take-up device, a sealing member seals a communicating hole of a piston. When a force limiter mechanism is operated and rotating of a spool in a pull-out direction is allowed, the piston is moved to an upper side in a state in which the sealing member is pressed and contacted against a cylinder. As a result, the sealing member is turned and the sealing of the communicating hole by the sealing member is released. In consequence, a number of components may be reduced and assembly characteristics of the pretensioner mechanism may be improved.

摘要: To allow a seat belt retractor to be easily assembled and to be made compact while effectively operating a pretensioner and an energy absorbing mechanism. A plurality of balls 20 rotate a ring gear 25 by gas generated in the event of an emergency. Since internal teeth 25a are meshed with external teeth 26a, a pinion 26 is rotated by the rotation of the ring gear 25, and a spool retracts a seat belt. After pressing the ring gear 25, the balls 20 separate from the ring gear 25 and are stored in an arc-shaped passage 33. Since the seat belt is then withdrawn, the pinion 26 and the ring gear 25 rotate in a seat-belt withdrawing direction. In this case, some of the balls 20 in contact with the ring gear 25 are returned by the ring gear 25. Therefore, the ring gear 25 more smoothly rotates because the influence of the balls 20 is suppressed.

摘要: A pretensioning device (10) for a safety belt, of a motor vehicle, having a gas generator (17), a piston (21) guided in a tube (16), which closes a pressure area (20) in the tube (16) that is pressurized by the gas generator (17) whereupon the piston (21) is able to move in a pretensioning movement which is able to be conveyed to the safety belt by means of an inertia body (19a) resting on a front face (9) of the piston (21). The piston (21) forms a pass-through opening (1) releasable upon exceeding of a predetermined pressure and a recess (26) is provided in the front face (9) with an inertia body (19a) resting thereon, so that a flow connection is created from the pass-through opening (1) to the area (25) located behind the piston (21) in the direction of the pretensioning movement (S).

摘要: A belt pretensioner and force limiter in a vehicle having a piston-cylinder device with a cylinder chamber containing an explosive charge is taught. The piston has a piston rod that protrudes from the cylinder and is joined to a cable. The cable, via a drum and a planetary gear set, drives a reel mechanism for the belt in a winding-up direction when the explosive charge is detonated. The planetary gear set is so disposed that the gear ratio is about 1:1 between the drum and the reel mechanism when the drum rotates in the winding-up direction. The planetary gear set is geared up in the opposite direction so that the return movement of the piston a certain distance in the cylinder corresponds to a several times longer feed-out of the web from the reel mechanism.

摘要: To provide a pretensioner with further improved safety of the device, wherein gas is appropriately allowed to escape in the event that the gas pressure within the pipe rises excessively. A pretensioner is attached to the outer side of the frame of a seatbelt retractor. A pressure container is connected to the base portion of a pipe of the pretensioner. A gas generator is stored within this pressure container. Multiple balls are provided within the pipe. A hole is opened in the side wall of the pipe at the portion positioned between the gas generator and ball. A rivet or other device is driven into this hole. The rivet breaks in the event that internal pressure exceeding a certain pressure (i.e., abnormal pressure) is applied to the pipe, and falls loose from the hole. Alternative embodiments of gas escape mechanisms are provided.

摘要: An apparatus (10) includes a housing (70) defining a chamber (80). The housing (70) also defines a vent passage (86) communicating the chamber (80) with the atmosphere outside the housing. A gas generator (120) associated with the housing (70), when actuated, generates gas in the chamber (80). A pressure relief plug (140) blocks gas flow through the vent passage (86) when the pressure relief plug is at a first temperature. The pressure relief plug (140) is made of a material which melts at a second temperature above the first temperature causing the vent passage (86) to become unblocked. The pressure relief plug (140) is insertable into the vent passage (86) and has a snap action connection with the housing (70).

摘要: A linear drive for a belt tensioner comprises a pyrotechnic propellant charge, a cylinder tube and a piston displaceably arranged therein. The propellant charge, upon ignition, provides a pressurized gas acting on the piston. The piston has a hollow interior adapted to be subjected to the pressurized gas and an axial end at which an end wall is provided. The end wall has a bursting disc arranged facing the interior of the piston and a through opening formed by a stepped bore. The stepped bore has a first section facing the interior of the piston and is provided with an edge facing the interior, and a second section adjacent the first section. The second section has a diameter which is smaller than a diameter of the first section. The bursting disc abuts at the edge of the first section of the stepped bore.
