摘要: The invention is structured such that an additional low-floor Vehicle C (intermediate vehicle) is inserted between a high-floor Vehicle A (leading vehicle) and a Vehicle B (trailing vehicle). Between Vehicle A and Vehicle C and between Vehicle B and Vehicle C, un-motorized idling carriages (10) and (24) are used for articulation, respectively. Therefore, the articulation structure that is used between the conventional Vehicle A and Vehicle B can be used also between Vehicle A and Vehicle C, and between Vehicle C and Vehicle B. In other words, the underframe structure of the Vehicle C rear half section is the same as the underframe structure of the Vehicle A rear half section and the underframe structure of Vehicle C top end section is the same as the underframe structure of Vehicle B top end section.

摘要: The invention relates to a railway vehicle with a self-supporting car body having a floor and a roof as well as side walls which present windows and access areas. The side walls are each made of a frame which is rigidly connected to the floor and presents side wall elements. The car body skin elements are configured in a supporting manner and fixed to frame elements (2) by friction so as to form a ribbed plate support structure (1, 8). The car body skin elements comprise an integrated intermediate layer (5) having vibration-damping properties. Frictional adhesive joints (7) or frictional screw or rivet joints (9) between the frame elements (2) and supporting car body skin elements can be provided for. The supporting car body skin elements are configured as supporting sandwich elements (3) which consist of an outer layer (4), an inner layer (6) and an intermediate layer (5) which has heat- and/or sound-insulating and vibration-damping properties and maintains the outer and inner layer at a distance from each other.

摘要: A module is provided for use with a drive mechanism particularly suited for plug-type railcar doors to prevent “overspinning” and “drifting.” The mechanism disclosed is a double brake-type mechanism and includes a first rotatably mounted member. The first member is arranged to transmit force in either direction of rotation and is connected with an input drive mechanism. The drive mechanism includes a rotatable pinion gear carried on a rotatable input shaft extending generally parallel to the axis of rotation of the first member. The pinion gear is connected with the shaft by means which cause it to move longitudinally of the shaft to a first or a second spaced point depending upon the direction the shaft is rotated. At each of the points, there are ratchets which are freely rotatable relative to the shaft except when the pinion gear moves to engage them at their respective points. When engaged, the ratchets permit movement of the shaft only in one direction. The arrangement is such that should the driven mechanism being moving the member at a rate greater than the pinion, the pinion will move longitudinally of the shaft to engage the other ratchet wheel and prevent movement of the shaft in response to force input from the driven mechanism. One of the ratchets has an even number of teeth and one of the ratchets has an odd number of teeth. The profiles of the ratchet teeth on the ratchets are different.

摘要: A railroad drive system for transporting, along a railroad track, a vehicle trailer having a front king pin and a rear king pin downwardly projecting from a lower surface thereof in vertically spaced relation above the railroad track includes a drive assembly having motorized wheels including a pair of differential axles. The drive assembly is carried on a support frame and operatively engages the railroad track and a front fifth wheel and a rear fifth wheel carried by said support frame and having a first position vertically below the lower surface of the trailer. A lifting assembly operatively selectively raises the front fifth wheel and the rear fifth wheel into coupled relationship with the king pins. An operator control station extends laterally outward of said support frame between said axles for operating the drive and lifting assemblies.

摘要: A center partition or center beam railroad freight car with a bulkhead at each end and a depressed cargo-carrying floor located on each side of the center beam in an intermediate portion of the car located between respective end portions of the car having higher floors. A wide bottom plate of the center sill in the intermediate portion of the car is included as a part of the depressed cargo-carrying floor, and crossbearers are attached to the bottom of the center sill, extending laterally to side sills in the intermediate section of the car to support floor sheets that extend laterally outward from the bottom plate of the center sill. Longitudinal stringers are attached to the underside of the bottom plate of the center sill between the crossbearers. A body bolster has arms that extend diagonally upward and outward to side sills supporting the higher floors in the end portions of the car.

摘要: A roof assembly for a railroad boxcar having centrally located side door openings. The roof assembly is formed of a number of roof panels each of generally rectangular shape and having longitudinally and laterally located edges. The roof panels are positioned on the boxcar with the longitudinal edges of the panels supported on top side plates of the boxcar. The roof panels include end panels, intermediate panels and door overlying panels. Each of the end panels is located at one of the longitudinal ends of the boxcar and has a laterally located edge. The door overlying panels are positioned over the centrally located side doors of the boxcar. The intermediate panels are positioned between the end panels and the door overlying panels. Each of the intermediate panels is wider than each of the door overlying panels and wider than the end panels. Each intermediate panel is formed with four corrugations while each end panel and door overlying panel is formed with two corrugations. The intermediate panels and the door overlying panels are each formed of 14 gauge galvanized iron while the end panels are formed of 12 gauge galvanized iron.

摘要: A floor structure for attachment to a railway car underframe is provided. The floor structure is formed in part from floor panels having a floor plate and a number of reinforcing members attached to one side of each floor plate. One of the reinforcing members is preferably attached along a first edge of each floor with a portion of the reinforcing member extending laterally from the respective first edge. The opposite edge of the floor plate perfectly extends laterally from the nearest reinforcing member such that when the floor panels are disposed adjacent to each other with the second edge of one floor plate resting on the reinforcing member extending from the first edge of an adjacent floor plate. A butt weld is preferably formed between each adjacent first edge and second edge and the respective reinforcing member. The ends of the floor plates may be bent downwardly for connection to portions of the underframe. The length of the floor panels may be less than the distance between side sills to accommodate a bulkhead track and divider assembly.

摘要: In order to provide a car-body structure which has few different kinds of structural members, a small number of structural members, a small occurrence of strain and which is high in dimensional accuracy, and, consequently, in assembling accuracy, each of the car-body blocks is formed of a one-piece structure consisting of an outside plate and a reinforcing plate, each of which is made of a metallic material. The reinforcing plate is composed of panels divided into a plurality of sections; and, each of the panels has a plurality of beads in the form of a long and narrow projection formed by plastic working of a metal plate and extending in the longitudinal direction of the block. A bar-ring in the form of a long hole with a rib extending in the direction of the block is formed between the beads through plastic working. Further, at least one post-shaped protrusion extending in the direction intersecting at a right angle with the bead is provided in each of panels of the reinforcing plate. The bead, the barring and the post-shaped protrusion are projected in one side of the surface of the panel; at least one end of the bead and the post-shaped protrusion are connected so as to form one structure; and the panel and the outside plate are joined in a unit.
