    摘要: The invention is directed to a protective rod system which is installed on the bottom of a boat by a hinge assembly which installation is about midway between the length of the boat. The protective rod system is designed to prevent manatees from being hit by the propeller of the boat to avoid injury. The protective rod system is so designed that when in a deployed system, the protection to the manatee is in place or a retracted system whereby the bottom of the boat is substantially clear of any obstruction so that the boat can navigate in shallow waters. The protective rod system extends below and beyond the rotation circle of the propeller when activated or deployed.

The reinforcement member has an upper extremity secured to the leading edge of the mounting and a lower extremity secured to the leading edge of the skeg receiving pocket.

    摘要: A propeller protector for a countermeasure vehicle having a propeller shaft, a propeller fixed to the shaft, radial fins fixed on the vehicle and extending outwardly from the shaft, and a shield fixed to the fins and surrounding the propeller. The propeller protector includes a sleeve having an end wall at a first end thereof, and an open second end engaged with the vehicle, the first end and side walls of the sleeve having perforations therein. The sleeve first end is provided with a central opening. A nut is fixed to the sleeve end wall, threadedly mounted on the shaft, and disposed around the central opening. Stop structure on the sleeve and the vehicle prevents rotation of the sleeve relative to the vehicle. Rotation of the propeller shaft unscrews the shaft from the nut, permitting the nut and the sleeve to move axially to disengage from the vehicle.

Each tunnel includes a generally tubular section which fluidly communicates with the transom outlet orifice, and a converging transition section which communicates at the extreme opposite end with a water inlet orifice which is positioned within an enhanced, vertical strake surface. The vertical strake surface is located beneath the chine of the boat, as well as beneath the water line. The modified hull also includes an inboard offset for the vertical strake surface, and a chine step to enhance hydrodynamic performance of the hull when attempting to achieve or exceed plane speed.

    摘要: An improved method for raising a propeller up into the hull of a marine water craft for the purpose of reducing the likelihood of underwater impact and improving shallow water operation without encountering the high efficiency losses normally associated with shallow draft drive systems or water jets. It utilizes a unique tunnel which is open bottomed and extends longitudinally in the running surface of the hull. The lead in to the tunnel, which is termed the “chute” forms the entry to a deeper portion of the tunnel located further aft. A super-cavitating propeller is positioned in the aft tunnel section. The propeller is raised vertically into the tunnel such that the propeller blade tips can be above, below or flush with the running surface of the hull but the prop shaft is always above the running surface of the hull. The invention relates to the longitudinal position of the chute with respect to the propeller, the general shape of the chute and its normal method of operation.
