摘要： An apparatus for forming an extruded cylindrical closed-ended metal tube having a flat end wall and an integrally formed projection on the end wall includes a die having a recess formed therein, the die having a configuration which corresponds to the terminal end portion of the desired tube and including a cavity which corresponds to the desired projection. The apparatus further includes a punch which is receivable in the die, and includes an end wall having a peripheral portion which extends angularly outwardly at an angle of between approximately 10.degree. and 20.degree. relative to a plane which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the die. The apparatus is operative by placing an extrudable metal disc in the recess in the die and advancing the punch into the recess with sufficient force to extrude metal from the disc into the cavity and also between the punch and the die to form the desired tube.

摘要： An improved beverage can is provided, and has a top wall, a bottom wall, and a side wall extending between and being integrally connected to the top and bottom walls. The side wall has opposing curved portions and opposing flattened or concaved portions. The flattened or concaved portions are oriented for gripping by person's thumb and fingers. One of the flattened or concaved portions is positioned below an opening in the top wall of the can such that the can is automatically oriented for drinking or pouring when grasped by a person. A circular ridge is provided adjacent the top and bottom walls of the can such that the can is rollable along a surface or track. The flattened or concaved portions also provide an advertising panel for the beverage manufacturer or distributors.

The body and bottom plate are sealably attached together with an adhesive and by a tight curl. The tight curl is formed toward the interior of the container and not exposed outside, which makes it very pleasing to the eye.

摘要： A one-piece metal can body having a cylindrical side wall and an integral bottom wall. The bottom wall is disposed in a plane normal to the axis of the cylindrical side wall and is formed with one or more outwardly extending depressions which are arranged in circular configuration and are spaced radially inwardly from the peripheral edge of the bottom wall. Under unpressurized conditions the can body rests on the depressions, and when the can body is subjected to internal pressure, the bottom wall will deform outwardly in a uniform and predictable manner and the can body will remain supported by the depressions.

摘要： The side wall of a container is joined to the bottom portion thereof by a first frustoconical portion and a first semi-torroidal portion which, in turn, is joined to a second semi-torroidal portion; and, a bottom closing portion. 摘要： A loose metal end for forming a seamed can end closure and which includes an annular marginal seaming panel having a radiused outer rim concluding in a curled end underlying the seaming panel and provided with a peripherally interspaced array of radially extending flutes shaped to crest directionally towards the seaming panel. When double-seamed onto a can body, the fluted curled end is folded into a fluted hook end with the flutes cresting radially outward and away from the can body. As thus disposed, the flutes provide preselectively located sites which function to direct such "pinwrinkles" or "pinlips", as may result from buckling compressive forces generated in the hook end during the seaming or crimping operations, to project radially outward and away from the can body.
