    摘要: Novel aluminum alloys are provided for use in an impact extrusion manufacturing process to create shaped containers and other articles of manufacture. In one embodiment blends of recycled scrap aluminum are used in conjunction with relatively pure aluminum to create novel compositions which may be formed and shaped in an environmentally friendly process. Other embodiments include methods for manufacturing a slug material comprising mixtures of aluminum alloys for use in the impact extraction process, a container manufactured using the aluminum alloy in an impact extrusion process, and the container, wherein the material of the container is the aluminum alloy.

    摘要: A hollow preform impact extruded from a metal billet to produce a progressing wall at a transition wall thickness. An axially forward portion of the progressing wall is ironed by extrusion past an extrusion point to form a sidewall portion of a lesser thickness. Extruding is stopped while some of the billet remains to form the closed bottom end. The preform has a bottom portion, a sidewall portion and a transition wall portion extending between the bottom portion and the sidewall portion. The transition wall portion is thicker than the sidewall portion and can be formed into at least part of the rim of an expansion shaped container. An impact extrusion punch has a central axis, an axially forward, impact surface for impacting metal to be extruded, a transition region for directing material displaced by the impact surface and a rear extrusion point for ironing material extruded past the transition region.

    摘要: A method for fabricating a non-planar magnet includes extruding a precursor material including neodymium iron boron crystalline grains into an original anisotropic neodymium iron boron permanent magnet having an original shape, wherein the original anisotropic neodymium iron boron permanent magnet has at least about 90 percent neodymium iron boron magnetic material by volume. The original anisotropic neodymium iron boron permanent magnet is heated to a deformation temperature. The original anisotropic neodymium iron boron permanent magnet is deformed into a reshaped anisotropic neodymium iron boron permanent magnet having a second shape substantially different from the original shape using heated tooling to apply a deformation load to the original anisotropic neodymium iron boron permanent magnet. The original anisotropic neodymium iron boron permanent magnet and the reshaped anisotropic neodymium iron boron permanent magnet each have respective magnetic moments substantially aligned with a respective local surface normal corresponding to the respective magnetic moment.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method for producing a small thin-walled tube for a medical application or for a medical product, in particular for a stent, wherein a blank of an in particular bioresorbable magnesium alloy is deformed to produce a small tube, after which the small tube is used for medical purposes or from which the medical product, such as a stent, can be made. In order to be able to produce the small tube in one step and with high precision, it is provided according to the invention that a male die (2) with a base body (3) and a mandrel (4) tapered relative to the base body (3) and the blank is provided with a blind hole or an opening, wherein a diameter of the blind hole or the opening of the blank is equal to or greater than an outer diameter of the mandrel (4), after which the blank with inserted mandrel (4) with the male die (2) is pressed forwards at least in part through a female die (5) with a receiving region (6) and a contouring region (7), wherein the contouring region (7) has a free diameter, which is larger than the outer diameter of the mandrel (4), but smaller than an outer diameter of the blank, in order to form the small tube.

    摘要: In a method of making a tubular body, material is pressed through a die of a forming tool into a first mold cavity disposed in downstream relationship to the die to produce a first end piece. A mandrel is then moved in a direction of the die to thereby displace the mold cavity in the same direction and to extrude a tubular center piece to adjoin the first end piece. The mandrel is then replaced by a mold having a second mold cavity to mold a second end piece to adjoin the center piece.
