摘要: Apparatus for feeding a cut portion of adhesive strip for sticking the back of a book block or the like has a path for longitudinally guiding the adhesive strip drawn from a roll. In the path, a severing blade is located above a working table upstream from a deposit means for the portion of adhesive strip. Laterally of the working table and parallel to the deposit means is a slide guide having a slide from which projects a gripper having a clamp for gripping the end of the adhesive strip which is held in a waiting position at the cutting location of the severing blade. The slide guide extends from the region of the severing blade to beyond the end of the deposit means and stops are provided in the course of the slide guide means for stopping the slide.

摘要: A mechanism is described which employs a safety element for preventing the application of excessive force to a linkage. In several embodiments the safety device comprises a spring which allows relative movement between a trigger and the linkage. The safety device may, however, be a mechanical fuse. The inventive safety device is embodied in a hot glue gun so that the safety device prevents the application of excessive force to the linkage which advances glue. Damage to the glue gun is thus avoided. Also disclosed is a unique return spring for a mechanism such as the glue gripper of a glue gun. The return spring allows rotation of the gripping element to occur before linear movement of the glue stick.

摘要: A two part input shaft is drivingly connected to a crankshaft of a punch press for rotation at a predetermined speed. An adjustable cam drive mechanism drivingly connects the input shaft to a driven feed roll. Continuous rotation of the input shaft is converted by the adjustable cam drive mechanism to intermittent rotation of the feed roll. The intermittent rotation of the feed roll is timed with the press operation so that the feed roll intermittently advances a preselected length of the workpiece to the press after each press operation. A clamp arrangement releasably engages a first portion of the input shaft to a second portion of the input shaft so that, upon disengagement of the clamp arrangement, relative rotation is permitted between the input shaft first and second portions. The input shaft first portion is drivingly connected to the crankshaft of the press and the shaft second portion is drivingly connected to the adjustable cam drive mechanism. When the input shaft first and second portions are drivingly connected, the continuous rotation of the crankshaft is transmitted to the adjustable cam drive mechanism. Releasing the clamp disengages the shaft first and second portions from one another to permit adjustments to be made in the timed relationship between the feeding of the workpiece to the press and the operation of the press on the workpiece.

摘要: The input shaft of a punch press is rotated at a continuous preselected speed and is drivingly connected by a cam drive mechanism to an output shaft to generate oscillating rotational movement of the output shaft. Upper and lower feed rolls are rotatably supported in a frame in overlying relation to engage stock material extending between the upper and lower rolls. A combination linkage and gear cluster transmits the oscillating rotation movement of the output shaft to one of the feed rolls. The second feed roll is pivotally supported in the frame for movement toward and away from the first feed roll. A coupling drivingly connects the gear cluster to the second feed roll to oscillate the second feed roll through an angle of rotation corresponding to the angle of rotation of the first feed roll and thereby drive both of the feed rolls to intermittently feed a preselected length of the stock material to the press. The coupling is drivingly connected to the second feed roll to facilitate movement of the second feed roll toward and away from the first feed roll and as rotation is transmitted to the second feed roll.

摘要: A device for feeding an elongated band or strip of material in a step-by-step manner toward a material processing station, such as a punch or the like. The device includes a housing having a chamber therein in which is located a reciprocal piston. The piston rod connected to the piston extends out through an opening in the housing and is at the free end thereof connected to a clamping jaw. An adjustable stop is provided in the chamber for controlling the length of the stroke of the piston. Structure for facilitating a deceleration of the piston as it approaches its limits of movements are provided at opposite ends of the chamber. Fluid connections are provided in one of the guide rods supporting the clamping jaw and facilitate a fluid supply to the clamping jaw without the use of external hoses. The control valve structure for the feeding device is mounted on a rotatable valve block structure to facilitate a reversal of the sequence of the feeding stroke.

摘要: An apparatus for retrieving and storing an elongated flexible element such as an electrical cord, garden hose, air hose, vacuum hose, rope, or the like. The elongated flexible element has a first end for attachment to a service and a second end for attachment to an article to be coupled through the elongated member to the service. The apparatus includes first and second wheels, a framework for supporting the wheels in a use orientation, with peripheral surfaces of the wheels in closely spaced-apart relation. The supporting framework supports the wheels for rotation about their respective axes, the axes extending generally parallel to one another. The space between the wheel peripheries is sufficiently small when the wheels are in the use orientation that the wheel peripheries bear frictionally upon the surfaces of the flexible element to move the flexible element therebetween as the wheels are turned. One of the wheels is turned to retrieve the flexible element. A storage hopper is attached to the support framework for storing the retrieved flexible element.

摘要: A mechanism for incrementally advancing continuous paper forms comprising a pair of opposing cams which drive said forms therebetween, each said cam having a plurality of camming surfaces whose phase relative to the other said cam may be manually varied. For each rotation of said pair of cams, said forms are incremented a number of times equal to the total number of camming surfaces per one said cam where an increment is phase dependent.
