    摘要: The present lipid-based wax compositions commonly include a polyol fatty acid ester component (made up of partial and/or completely esterified polyols). Generally, at least a portion of the polyol fatty acid ester has been subjected to a transesterification reaction. Lipid-based wax compositions having a melting point of about 48null C. to about 75null C. can be particularly advantageous for use in forming candles. The wax may contain other components such as mineral wax, plant wax, insect wax, and/or other components. The polyol fatty acid ester component can include triacylglycerols such as those derived from plant oils (soybean oil, palm oil, etc.). The polyol ester component may be characterized based on one or more of its physical characteristics, such as SFI-40, SFI-10, typical crystal structure, IV, melting curve, and/or other properties.

    摘要: An organically clean biomass fuel formed of mixture of a powder, which may be either dried, cellulosic product, wood charcoal powder, and/or a combination of the two, and a fluid, which may be vegetable oil, vegetable alcohol or a combination of the two. A centrifugal machine dries moist, cellulosic product and extracts black liquor. A grinder transforms the dried, cellulosic product into powder. Gum may be extracted from the vegetable oil or vegetable alcohol. A batch mixer or vibrating vessel mixes the powder and the fluid together; the fluid moisturizes the powder. Depending upon the relative amount of the fluid as compared to powder, the mixture will either be in a liquid cream state or a doughy state. If the latter, the mixture may be pressed into briquettes or ingots.

    摘要: The present invention provides a sulfonated coal tar distillate salt polymer that is a condensation product of an aldehyde, preferably formaldehyde, and a sulfonated middle fraction obtained during coal tar distillation. The middle fraction includes from about 40% to about 95% by weight naphthalene and from about 5% to about 60% by weight of a plurality of compounds selected from the group consisting of quinoline, indene, biphenyl, indane, acenaphthene, anthracene, phenanthrene, methyl naphthalene, cresol, phenol, xylenol, and tetralin. The present invention also provides a method of forming a sulfonated coal tar distillate salt polymer. The method includes sulfonating the middle fraction to form a middle fraction sulfonic acid mass, optionally adding a first portion of water to the middle fraction sulfonic acid mass to form a mixture, reacting the mixture and an aldehyde to form a condensate, optionally adding a second portion of water to dilute the condensate, and adding a base to form a sulfonated middle fraction salt polymer. Sulfonated middle fraction salt polymers formed in accordance with the method of the invention are useful as dispersants and plasticizers in aqueous cementitious slurries.

    摘要: A method of producing a synthetic fuel by treating fines of bituminous coal with an emulsion of a tall-oil mix, which may include enhancers that either increase the chemical change in the coal or reduce the cost of the synthetic fuel. Enhancers include poly vinyl acetate (PVA) and/or ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA), glycol, lignosulfonate, beet sugar bottoms, corn bottoms, brewery bottoms, vegetable tall oil, vegetable oil, and/or spent frying oil. The emulsion is sprayed into, and reacted with, the coal fines, resulting in a cost effective and industry-usable source of synthetic fuel.

    摘要: Candles formed from triacylglycerol-based wax are provided. The wax generally has a melting point of about 130 to 145null F. (circa 54 to 63null C.). The wax includes a triacylglycerol component and a polyol partial ester component. Examples of suitable polyol partial esters include fatty acid monoesters of glycerol and/or sorbitan. The triacylglycerol-based wax typically has an Iodine Value of about 20 to 40. The wax commonly includes at least about 70 wt. % of the triacylglycerol component and about 3 to 30 wt. % of the polyol partial ester component. The triacylglycerol component generally has a fatty acid composition which includes about 50 to 70 wt. % saturated fatty acids and about 30 to 45 wt. % 18:1 fatty acids. Methods of producing the candles from the vegetable oil-based wax are also provided.
