摘要: Methods are disclosed for gas shielded arc welding steel railroad rails spaced from each other to define a transverse gap, one of which methods comprises the steps of providing an elongated steel barrier plate wedged into the gap at the bottom of the spaced rails and filling gap above said steel barrier plate with a molten steel from an advancing filler metal electrode by a gas shielded electric arc welding process initiated by an arc between the electrode and the barrier plate. A second method comprises the continuous sequential laying of weld beads in the gap between rail heads along paths extending in laterally opposite directions for the beads to have first ends extending outwardly of an edge of the head in cantilever relationship thereto and which first ends are vertically thicker than second ends of the beads which are spaced from the first ends in the direction toward the opposite edge of the head.

摘要: A method of field welding head-hardened rails which includes the steps of gas pressure welding the rails, shearing off excess metal therefrom at the welded portion with a portable welder device, subjecting the railhead of the pressure welded portion of the rails to a subsequent heat treatment with a gas heater device, setting a width of the pressure welded portion to be heated at the time of the subsequent heat treatment with a pair of jigs, and cooling the portion which has undergone the subsequent heat treatment with an air blowing type cooler.

摘要: Railway rails are welded in situ by induction welding with an insert (3) between the ends of the rails (1) being welded. The insert (3) compensates, at least in part, for the loss of rail length that occurs in the welding process. Preferably the ends of the rails are pushed apart (e.g. by the length of rail consumed in the welding process) before the insert (3) is placed in position, thereby allowing a longer insert to be used. Induction heating may be performed with a split head (5) that can be opened so as to be placed around a rail in situ and then closed to carry out induction heating.

摘要: A welding unit for connecting two rails of a track by flash-butt welding, includes clamping jaws having contact surfaces intended for application to a rail web and a power jaw for current transmission having a contact surface for application to the rail web. The power jaw is displaceable relative to the clamping jaw in a pressing direction leading to contact with the rail. In an inoperative position spaced from the rail web, the power jaw, due to the pressure of a pressure spring, is situated in a forward end position with regard to the pressing direction, in which the contact surface of the power jaw projects beyond the contact surface of the clamping jaw.
