    摘要: A barrier for use in a constant velocity joint wherein the constant velocity joint has a lubricant within an outer race and a boot secured to a boot cover. The barrier includes a shield wherein that shield is in contact with the outer race and the boot cover. The shield generally has a body with a cup shaped cross section and a circumferential flange extending therefrom. The shield provides a barrier between the boot and the heat and grease lubricant of the constant velocity joint.

    摘要: A support for the vertical drive shaft of a marine stem drive unit. The support is a generally tubular member of high quality steel or steel alloy which is threaded at its lower end. The upper end carries an external flange. The upper end defines an internal taper which receives a bearing assembly. The flange is secured in the unit by a fastener and the threaded lower end is secured by a retainer such as a spanner nut. The drive shaft extends within the support substantially increasing the horsepower capacity of the unit by several times.

An attachment device 52 has a threaded portion 54 and a shoulder portion 56. The shoulder portion 56 contacts a backing surface 60 of the constant velocity joint 10 to attach the constant velocity joint 10 to the hub/bearing unit 20.

    摘要: An adapter system to connect a main shaft (9) of an electric motor to a device to be driven, in particular to a pinion of a gearing, is disclosed. The system comprises an adapter shaft (10) with a pinion attachment (11) on a first end, for rotationally stable connection to the pinion. A housing (20) is provided with devices (21, 22) to serve as bearings for the adapter shaft (10) and with a first flange (23) for attaching the housing to the gearing and with a second flange (24) for attaching it to the motor, such that the motor is substantially firmly connected to the gearing by way of the housing (20). A coupling element (40) can be connected to the motor shaft (9) in a rotationally stable manner. On the coupling element (40) there is formed a first driving means (41, 41′) and on the adapter shaft (10) is formed a second driving means (12, 12′), which has a shape corresponding to that of the first driving means (41, 41′) and engages therewith so as to transmit a torque between the first coupling element (40) and the adapter shaft (10). The first driving means (41, 41′) is so disposed that it can move with respect to the second driving means (12, 12′) at least in a direction (y) perpendicular to the axis of rotation (x) of the adapter shaft (10) and at an angle (&agr;) with respect to the axis of rotation (x). With an adapter system constructed in this way, a plurality of different motors can be connected in a simple manner to a plurality of different devices to be driven, in particular gearings.

    摘要: A slip yoke assembly for a vehicle drive train assembly includes a yoke shaft having an externally splined shaft portion and a slip shaft having a hollow internally splined portion disposed co-axially about the shaft portion of the yoke shaft. The yoke shaft and the slip shaft are axially movable with respect to each other and are engaged with each other for transmitting torque from one to the other. A flexible boot is provided for protectively covering the connection between the two splined members. The boot has a first clamping end disposed about the yoke shaft and a second clamping end disposed about the slip shaft. The first clamping end has a plurality of loops spaced circumferentially about the first clamping end. The loops are shaped to receive a band clamp and to retain the band clamp in position with respect to the first clamping end. The second clamping end has a plurality of loops spaced circumferentially about the second clamping end. The loops are shaped to receive a band clamp and to retain the band clamp in position with respect to the second clamping end.

    摘要: A flexible boot assembly for protectively covering a constant velocity joint includes a flexible boot having an end portion that is molded about a flange portion of a rigid can. The flexible boot is preferably formed from an elastomeric material and can be integrally molded to a metallic can by an insert molding or other similar process. The metallic can includes a hollow cylindrical flange portion for positioning the can with respect to the constant velocity joint. The metallic can also includes a face portion having a plurality of apertures formed therethrough for mounting the boot assembly to the constant velocity joint. The inner surface of the metallic can includes a bead of a sealing material or a gasket for sealingly engaging the boot assembly to the adjacent face of the constant velocity joint. In another embodiment, the entire boot assembly is formed by using elastomeric material. In alternative embodiments, the entire boot assembly is formed from an elastomeric material. The boot assembly may or may not include the hollow cylindrical flange portion for positioning it with respect to the constant velocity joint.
