摘要: A bi-directional overrunning clutch assembly (10, 110, 210) including a drive member (12, 112, 212) that is rotatable about an axis (A) and a pair of driven members (14, 16; 114, 116; 214, 216) that are similarly rotatable about the axis of rotation. and are disposed on either side of the drive member (12, 112, 212). A first engagement mechanism (26, 126, 226) is supported between the confronting surfaces of the drive member (12, 112, 212) and one of the driven members (14, 114, 214). A second engagement mechanism (28, 128, 228) is supported between the confronting surfaces of the drive member (12, 112, 212) and the other driven member (16, 116, 216). A pair of actuators (32, 34; 132, 134; 232; 234) are associated with the first and second engagement mechanisms (26, 28; 126, 128; 226, 228). Each actuator is operable to move its associated engagement mechanism in an axial direction between the disengaged and engaged positions.

摘要: A driving arrangement with a free-wheel coupling has a coupling sleeve (1) and a coupling hub (10) rotatably supported in the coupling sleeve (1). Both are connected, via locking pawls (24), so that, during driving of the coupling hub (10), a slaving of the coupling sleeve (1) takes place. However, a faster rotation of the coupling sleeve (1) is allowed so that the coupling sleeve (1) can overtake the coupling hub (10). Belleville springs (25, 29) achieve a breaking effect with large lagging masses. The Belleville springs (25, 29) are kept non-rotational relative to the coupling hub (10) and are supported on the end faces (8, 9) of the coupling sleeve (1). The Belleville springs (25, 29) are pre-tensioned by means of a friction face (26).

摘要: The invention is a planar clutch having a plurality of pawls and a related plurality of notches numerically selected so that two more pawls are engaged at substantially the same time, thus sharing and balancing the eccentric forces of engagement between the drive plate and the driven plate. The pawls have a cross-sectional design, wherein each pawl has surfaces for receiving compressive loading forces and is thicker at a middle point between the surfaces for receiving compressing loading forces. A pivot ridge is located at the thickest area of the pawl.

摘要: A one-way clutch apparatus comprising a driving member having a plurality of recesses, a corresponding plurality of biasing members disposed in the recess, a corresponding number of keys or struts disposed over the biasing members in the recesses, and a driven member having a plurality of key-engaging notches formed circumferentially about an inside surface. Each of the keys includes a pair of laterally protruding arm portions and each of the arm portions has a ramp formed thereon which acts as a relief to allow the inside surface of the driven member to be placed to close proximate relationship with the inside surface of a driving member and to overlay portions of the recess. The overlaying enables the driven member to damp or otherwise limit the movement of a back end portion of each key when the driving member is moved in either a free-wheeling direction or driving direction, while the ramp portions allow a front end portion of the key to be urged outwardly without any portion of the arm portion interfering with the inside surface of the driven member overlaying portions of each recess. The one-way clutch apparatus is not as dependent upon a copious and continuous supply of lubricant to damp unwanted movement of the key as prior art developed one-way clutch systems.

摘要: An overrunning coupling assembly includes a notch plate and an annular coupling pocket plate positioned in face-to-face relationship with respect to each other along a common axis. The pocket plate has strut pockets disposed at angularly spaced positions about the common axis. The notch plate has notch recesses at angularly spaced positions about the common axis and positioned in juxtaposed relationship with respect to the strut pockets. Torque-transmitting struts are positioned in each of the strut pockets. Each strut has first and second ears at one edge thereof for enabling pivotal motion of the struts about an ear axis intersecting the ears. The opposite edge of each strut is movable between disengaged and engaged positions with respect to one of the notch recesses whereby one-way torque transfer may occur between the plates. A lubricant flows between the notch plate and pocket plate. A spring is positioned in each strut pocket and biases the respective strut toward the notch plate. Each spring engages the respective strut intermediate the ear axis and the opposite edge. Each strut pocket provides sufficient clearance forward of the respective opposite edge of the strut to allow forward sliding movement of the respective strut during overrunning to cause the engagement of the respective spring and strut to occur nearer the ear axis, thereby reducing the length of a moment arm about which the spring acts upon the strut which enables frictional forces of the flowing lubricant to hold the strut in its disengaged position to prevent the strut from slapping against the notch recesses as the notch plate and pocket plate are respectively counterrotated.

摘要: A planar type of over-running clutch including first and second confronting plates is disclosed herein. The second plate itself includes movable struts and associated biasing mechanisms for cooperative engagement with cooperating shoulder members of the first plate under certain circumstances. An arrangement forming part of the second plate and part of each strut cooperates with the biasing mechanism of the second plate for preventing any contact between the struts and the first plate when the second plate rotates in a particular way.

摘要: A clutch including a pawl having a base portion and an arm portion extending from the base portion; a drive disk adapted to be engaged by the pawl; a friction seal adapted to receive the drive disk; a drive retainer adapted to receive the pawl and a biasing spring that is engaged with the pawl and the drive retainer; and a pinion wheel having a plurality of teeth, wherein said pinion wheel is adapted to receive the drive retainer. The teeth of the pinion wheel operatively mesh with similarly designed teeth on a traction drive wheel which is also included in the traction drive wheel assembly. The clutch operates without the need for manual de-clutching and further without the need for the existence of frictional differentials between clutch members, induced through axial pressing together of clutch components by a thrust spring and through different sizes of frictional contact areas.
