    摘要: A damper comprises a piston rod which is disposed along a central longitudinal axis and extended out of an end of a casing through a guide and seal unit. A piston assembly on the end, inside the casing, of the piston rod divides the interior of the casing into two sectional casing chambers. A pressure-piston member and a traction-piston member of the piston assembly respectively comprise an flexibly deformable valve disk at a distance from their respective front walls. The piston assembly there-between comprises an annular piston which is movable relative to the piston rod along the axis between the valve disks in such a way that, by deformation conferred to the valve disk by the annular piston bearing against one of the valve disks, the valve disk rests on the associated piston member in such a way that a by-pass channel between the sectional casing chamber is at least narrowed. An additional valve assembly comprises a flexible valve body which bears by preload against a valve seat, and a through-channel which interconnects two sectional casing chambers that are sub-divided by the additional valve assembly and which is closed by the valve body in a blocked position of the valve assembly. A damper of this type may be used for example for damping the motion of turning down the seat of a vehicle.

    摘要: A piston plate for use with a magneto-rheological (nullMRnull) fluid damper. The piston plate comprises an inner hub and outer rim. The hub has simple geometry and is made from easily machineable material, permitting it to be fabricated using low-cost processes. The rim, which is secured over the hub, is made from a high strength, ferrous metal. The rim may be heat treated for greater strength and reduced magnetic permeability. In one embodiment of the present invention, the rim may be made from powdered metal. A magnetic insulator may be included on an interior face of the piston plate to reduce magnetic coupling between the rim and a piston core in a piston assembly. In another embodiment of the present invention, the piston plate may be made as a single piece from compressed powdered metal.

    摘要: A piston/cylinder unit has a closed cylinder with a piston axially displaceably guided therein. The piston divides the cylinder interior into first and a second working spaces which are both filled with a fluid. A piston rod extends through the cylinder interior and is guided on its end side to the outside in a sealed manner through a closing wall of the cylinder. Furthermore, a first nonreturn valve is arranged in the piston having a closing element of which is force-loaded in the closing direction. At least a portion of the first nonreturn valve is exposed to pressure in the first working space. When an opening pressure in the first working space exceeds an opening pressure, the first nonreturn valve is opened connecting the first working space to the second working space. A second nonreturn valve is also arranged in the piston and also has a closing element of which is force-loaded in the closing direction. The second nonreturn valve is opened when pressure in the second working space exceeds an opening pressure for connecting the second working space to the first working space. The surface of the closing element of the first and/or second nonreturn valve acted upon by the pressure of the respective working spaces can be enlarged during the opening stroke of said nonreturn valve.

    摘要: An adjustable shock absorber is provided that includes a body defining a cavity. A member such as a piston is disposed in the body and at least partially separates the cavity in two first and second fluid chambers. A port extends through the piston and fluidly connects the first and second chambers during damping. A deflection disc, typically several, are arranged adjacent to the piston and one of the chambers to at least partially obstruct the port. A flange member such as a washer is arranged in proximity to the deflection disc with the deflection disc arranged between the washer and the piston. The deflection disc bends about the washer, which acts as a fulcrum, to unobstruct the port. The washer has a first portion with a first radial width defining a first rate of damping and a second portion with a second radial width different than the first radial width defining a second rate of damping different than the first rate of damping. The deflection disc bends about the portion of the radial width that is in alignment with the port. Preferably, the washer is oval shaped. An adjustment member such as a knob selectively rotates the washer relative to the deflection disc between the first and second radial widths.

Extension-stroke and compression-stroke pilot type damping force control mechanisms are provided in the piston. Check valves are provided at inlet openings of back-pressure chambers (pilot chambers). When the direction of stroke of the piston rod is reversed, the pressures in the back-pressure chambers are maintained due to the check valves, and the back-pressure chambers are pressurized to a satisfactory level through the orifice passages.

    摘要: A vehicle damper includes a valve having of an imperforate, deflectable variable orifice disk with an outer periphery that is only partially clamped against a valve seat, during low velocity operation of the damper, by a variable orifice support disk having an outer periphery that is not coextensive with the outer periphery of the variable orifice disk. The portion of the outer periphery of the variable orifice disk that is not clamped against the valve seat deflects away from the valve seat during low velocity operation of the damper, in response to force on the variable orifice plate generated by pressure of fluid in flow apertures closed off by the variable orifice plate, to provide a variable orifice for fluid flow through the valve and digressive performance of the damper. The valve may take the form of a compression or rebound valve on the piston of the vehicle damper, or a base valve in a dual tube damper. The valve may take the form of a blow-off valve, a deflecting disk valve, a combination blow-off deflecting disk valve, or as part of other types of valves suited for use in vehicle dampers. A vehicle damper may include one or more variable orifice area low velocity valves in combination with other valves of conventional construction.
