摘要: A seal as a non-woven fabric folded along lines transverse to the opposite side of the seal and secured by adhesive to fabric strips. The non-woven fabric forms elongated cells. By securing one of these strips to a stationary component of the sealing surfaces, the opposite strip may expand or collapse relative to a movable sealing surface to accommodate excursions of that surface. Multiple layers of cells may be provided in the seals. Additionally, to increase seal stiffness, inserts may be extended into one or more of the cells.

摘要: A metal laminate gasket of the invention is used for an internal combustion engine. The gasket is basically formed of a first and second metal plates laminated together. Each of the first and second metal plates includes a hole corresponding to a hole of the engine, an inner plain portion around the hole, an inclined portion around the inner plain portion, and an outer plain portion around the inclined portion The inclined portions of the first and second plates are oriented in the same direction. The inner plain portion of the second plate has a length to contact a part of the outer plain portion of the first plate to form a support area. Thus, it is possible to securely seal around the hole of the engine by the inclined portions of the first and second plates.

For this purpose, a supporting element (5, 6) is used, which can be positioned in the opening and to which a bag (9, 10) is fastened. The annular space (4) can be sealed easily and also liquid-tight in this manner.

摘要: A multi-layered gasket for a combustion engine having a plurality of active and spacer gasket layers that are removably secured together is disclosed. The active layers are arranged in face-to-face engagement with the spacer layers in an alternating manner. The spacer layers may be selectively removed or added to vary the compression ratio of the engine. Alternatively, spacer layers may be selectively substituted with additional spacer layers having differing thincknesses to selectively vary the compression ratio of the engine. Retaining mechanisms for removably securing the gasket layers together are also disclosed.

摘要: The invention provides a sealing element for spinning systems used for spinning polymer melts, wherein the sealing element seals the transition between a polymer melt conducting melt channel of a permanently mounted component and a melt channel of a removable, interchangeable component. The sealing element consists of a cylindrical and externally smooth hollow object with an axial bore for passage of the melt, which hollow object is inserted into a fitting socket hole in the interchangeable component and is made of a material with a higher thermal expansion coefficient than that of the surrounding material of the interchangeable component.

摘要: A process seal made of a material such as polytetrafluoroethylene is used as a microwave window in a radar tank level gauge. The periphery of the process seal is surrounded by a metal containment ring that is fitted to the periphery to limit the amount of expansion outwardly of the process seal material as well as provide for localized loading at the periphery for clamping pressures on the seal. Electromagnetic radiation shielding is provided not only by the containment ring, but also by an EMI shielding O-ring mounted in a groove on a sealing end of the containment ring. A process environmental O-ring is carried by the process seal in an outer shoulder groove that is enclosed by the containment ring.

摘要: A metal gasket is disclosed in which a sealing stress exerted on a deck-surface from any one of confronting bead plates is dispersed slantwise along the direction leaving its associated cylinder bore aperture so that the cylinder bores are protected from deformation owing to the high sealing stress occurring in the open-end portions of the cylinder bores. The bead plates have sealing beads confronting flanges of an first intermediate plates at their borderlines smaller radially of their associated cylinder bore apertures while confronting the first intermediate plate, less in thickness than the flanges, at their borderlines larger radially of their associated apertures. The sealing stress on the deck-surfaces of the cylinder block and cylinder liner due to deformation of the beads may be dispersed uniformly over the flanges to thereby reduce the influence of the sealing stress on the liner section of the cylinder liner.

摘要: A valve cover gasket has a perforated central core of metal including protrusions extending from planar sides of the core. Silk screened on each side of the core is a silicone foam rubber layer adapted to replace traditional cork gasket structures used for same purpose. The silicone rubber layers include a foaming agent that causes the material to expand during an oven-curing period. The amount of expansion of the silicone rubber coating is up to three times the thickness of the coating originally applied. As disclosed, the oven cure is for approximately 10 minutes at 300 degrees Fahrenheit. The protrusions prevent the silicone rubber material from being fully compressed; the protrusions are designed not to flatten under normal gasket compression loads. The peaks of the protrusions act as compression loads stops to limit amount of permissible compression of the silicone rubber layers.

摘要: In a gas turbine having a chordal hinge seal between an inner rail of each nozzle segment and an annular axially facing sealing surface of a nozzle support ring, a supplemental seal is disposed between the support ring and inner rail of each nozzle segment radially inwardly of the chordal hinge seal. To minimize or prevent leakage flow across the chordal hinge seal, the seal is formed of flexible sheet metal which extends between the inner rail and a seat projecting from the annular sealing surface of the support ring radially inwardly of the chordal hinge seal. A first margin of the flexible seal engages in an arcuate groove carried by the inner rail. The opposite margin extends arcuately in sealing engagement along the seat carried by the nozzle support ring.

摘要: A low leakage sealing system is provided between a steam pipe and a housing comprised of a pair of shells and a nozzle box movable relative to one another. The sealing system includes large and small diameter sealing rings engaging the pipe and shells or nozzle box and a secondary sealing element disposed between the sealing rings and one of the pipe and shells or nozzle box. The sealing elements comprise frustoconical elements having curved end surfaces forming primary seals with the sealing rings and the housing. In another form, the sealing system includes annular carrier elements having radially opening cavities for receiving sealing rings engageable with the pipe and housing, respectively. The carrier elements are axially spaced from a plurality of sealing rings to provide the low leakage sealing system.
