A method and system of depressurizing a molecular sieve used in ethanol production is shown and described. The method and system utilizes a vapor mixing condenser that receives a vapor sieve feed from the molecular sieve during the depressurization cycle. The vapor from the molecular sieve during the pressurization cycle is used to heat the 190-proof product flow. The heated product flow is diverted directly to the 190-proof product vaporizer, which increases the input product flow temperature to the vaporizer, thereby reducing the amount of heat needed to vaporize the 190-proof product flow. The reduction in heat needed reduces energy costs and increases equipment life.

In a recycling steam system, a flow of waste steam is retrieved from the power cycle at a pressure in excess of condenser pressure and directs this waste-steam flow into a network of pipes vertically suspended in and distributed throughout the hotwell condensate, the pipes being so vertically elongate and so perforated within the region of condensate immersion that differences between instantaneous waste-steam pressure and instantaneous condenser pressure are automatically accommodated, in the form of greater or lesser scrubbing discharges of the waste steam into the accumulated volume of condensate which serves the condensate-return part of the system.

A power-producing system includes a working fluid cycle in which the fluid is boiled, expanded in a plurality of turbines exhausting at different pressures, condensed with air-cooled water and returned to the boiler. A reduction in the heat exchange surface area of the condensing portion of the system is achieved when a separate stream of cooling water flows through each of several condensers operating at a temperature appropriate for condensing the vapor from its respective turbine. A reduction in the heat exchange surface area of the ambient air/cooling water contact is achieved by passing each cooling water stream through its own cooling tower flow path constructed to provide the necessary cooling for that stream. A single cooling tower structure may be modified internally to provide plural flow paths separate from each other.
