    摘要: For measuring basis weight of a moving web in the cross direction scanner of a paper-making machine, an encapsulated nuclear source of Promethium 147 is used because of its wide area of emission. To conserve space it is mounted on a vertical axis. The source in a horizontal plane parallel to the moving web from a stowed position where the source is shielded to an active position where the source emits through an aperture, through the moving web, and to a detector. The x-y array planar type detector uses four detector segments symmetrically arranged around a center and compensates for belt direction misalignment (the belt driving the cross direction scanners) by mathematically manipulating the electrical signals from each detector to eliminate the error term.

The pressure regulating system includes a pressure sensor configured to sense pressure of water flowing through the meter; an actuator coupled to the pressure sensor; an electronics module configured to receive pressure information related sensed pressure from the actuator and process the received pressure information; and a radio module coupled to the meter and configured to receive the processed sensor information from the electronics module, communicate the processed sensor information to a remote location and receive pressure adjustment information from the remote location. The received pressure adjustment information is used to adjust water pressure in the meter from the remote location.

    摘要: A height sensor is provided in a vehicle leveling system having an air spring including a pressurized chamber connected between sprung and unsprung vehicle masses. Two radioactive material sources located within the chamber and attached for movement with the unsprung mass emits beta radiation which passes through the wall of the chamber and a pair of beta detectors outside the chamber and mounted on the sprung mass for movement therewith detects the beta radiation to determine the relative spacing of the sprung and unsprung masses.
