摘要: A test for hydraulic leakage in hydraulic components uses a rate testing device having two circuits including a filling circuit that fast-fills the component with hydraulic fluid and a leakage circuit that measures the leakage rate of fluid flow through the component. The filling circuit is first connected to the component to fill the component. Once full, flow through the filling circuit is blocked and flow to the component is provided by the leakage circuit, which includes a leakage flow rate measuring device. The filling circuit provides a flow rate that is at least twice the flow rate that is provided by the leakage circuit.

摘要: A system for early detection of water leaks at particular locations in any water-dependent appliance and apparatus used in multi-dwelling facilities. A central control apparatus electrically interconnected with a plurality of circuits that enable water leaks to be accurately detected in a diversity of devices including air conditioners, compressor coils, hot water appliances, and pipes, and for communicating the severity of the water-related problem. A plurality of water sensors are incorporated into specially designed probes of the preferred embodiment of the present invention wherein water leaks may be accurately and reliably detected in a diversity of water-dependent appliances and devices. A specially designed fiber glass cloth functions as a probe for sensing water leaks via its built-in plurality of sensors constructed from a corresponding plurality of conductive wires enables the location and extent of a water leak to be ascertained. The apparatus is designed to be easily installed and to be inherently devoid of any safety hazards. Specially color-coded wires enable particular appliances and pipes to be properly interconnected wherein water leaks may be detected early enough to prevent consequent water-damage. A detection transmitter contained with a central control housing uses information retrieved from a database to communicate the location and extent of water leaks to contact personnel disposed at a plurality of remote receivers. Transmission of voice and data alert and warning messages is effectuated via telephone lines and cellular communications.

摘要: A method and apparatus is provided for detecting and locating leaks in a pipeline. Pattern match filtering is used to reduce false alarm rate, increase sensitivity and improve leak location accuracy, while quickly detecting leaks by the acoustic signal generated from a leak event in pipelines containing gas or liquid under pressure. The pattern match filter technique detects a pressure wave generated by a leak, but discriminates against background noise and pressure disturbance generated by other non-leak sources that might otherwise be detected as a leak. The pattern match filter derives a sharp peaked output from the signal of the expansion wave which allows for a distinctive point of reference for a time stamp. This provides for improved accuracy in leak location calculations. The pattern match filter is incorporated into site processors located at multiple points along a pipeline, and at a central node processor which receives data from all site processors. The pattern match filter includes using previously recorded leak profiles. At site processes located at multiple points along a pipeline, a series of previously recorded signature leak profiles are continuously compared in real time against pipeline pressure signals. Data from each site processor are used collectively at a node processor and compared against multiple leak profiles to provide further false alarm rejection. The leak event data generated at each site processor is used by the node processor to declare a leak. By the application of this pattern match filter technique, the signal to noise ratio (S/N ratio) required to identify a leak event is reduced and the sensitivity of leak detection is increased.

摘要: An apparatus and method for sealing the bottom of an optical waveguide draw furnace is disclosed. The apparatus includes an assembly constructed and arranged to mate with the bottom of the draw furnace to form a seal, and a leak detection system communicating with the assembly to signal the forming of a proper or an improper seal. The covering plate of the assembly is selectively seated on the sealing plate of the draw furnace to form the seal, and an inert gas is delivered between the covering plate and the bottom of the draw furnace. The flow of the inert gas is detected to determine if the seal has been properly formed. An assembly including a covering plate having at least two radially spaced gaskets circumferentially positioned on the top surface of the covering plate for engagement with the sealing plate at the bottom of the draw furnace, and a method for sealing the bottom of a draw furnace are also disclosed.

摘要: A leakage inspection method and apparatus having a pressure wave generating means, including an air supply source, a regulator, and a solenoid valve. A pressure wave of a fluid is applied to a normal flow path of an measurement object by the pressure wave generating means to detect internal leakage by measuring, by means of a microphone, a difference between the transfer time during which the pressure wave passes through the normal flow path and the transfer time during which the pressure wave passes through the leakage flow path. Accordingly, the internal leakage of the fluid, flowing in the leakage flow path bypassing the normal flow path of an equipment having a partition and the normal flow path separated by the partition, is detected, if any.

摘要: A method for locating an internal transfer leak in a fuel cell stack by applying a substantially constant gas pressure difference between a first fluid stream passage and a second fluid stream passage, wherein gas pressure in the second fluid stream passage is higher than gas pressure in the first fluid stream passage. A test gas is supplied to the second fluid stream passage and a test liquid is supplied to the first fluid stream passage. A parameter indicative of flow rate of the test gas exiting the first fluid stream passage is measured as the test liquid fills the first fluid stream passage. An apparatus for locating an internal transfer leak in a fuel cell stack is also provided.

摘要: A highly accurate diagnosing apparatus for an evaporation purge system, which is not so easily affected by fluctuation in an atmospheric pressure. An evaporation system including a fuel tank is set in a pressure state different from an atmospheric pressure, and then hermetically sealed during leakage diagnosis. A reference pressure is introduced to the reference pressure introduction side of a relative pressure sensor, and a pressure in the evaporation system is introduced to the detected pressure introduction side thereof. In an atmosphere introduction passage for opening the reference pressure introduction side of the relative pressure sensor to atmosphere, a solenoid valve is provided for the relative pressure sensor. During the leakage diagnosis, a control unit sets the solenoid valve in a closed state, holds the reference pressure at a constant value, and then determines the presence of leakage in the evaporation system based on a relative pressure change detected by the relative pressure sensor.
