    摘要: World Clock comprising: a hollow, translucent sphere with graphics on its surface representing the world's land masses, an opaque half sphere nested within the translucent sphere, an enclosure positioned directly below the sphere, the enclosure housing an electronic clock mechanism and associated LED display, a microprocessor and associated electronics, a gear reduced motor and a vertically oriented tube extending from the base of the enclosure through the top of said enclosure and terminating in a light bulb socket and associated light bulb located at the center of the sphere. The external surface of the sphere has a plurality of push button type switches located at major cities. When the user presses a switch, the clock display shows the current time in that city. The opaque hemisphere turns once every twenty four hours so that part of the world is in dark and part in light as defined by the time in a particular part of the world. A crescent shaped arm located outside the sphere can be swung by the user and the clock display will show the time along the longitudinal axis closest to the arm. In this way a person can know the current time in any part of the world and can realistically see the light and dark conditions of any part of the world

    摘要: A GPS reception section receives radio signals from a plurality of positioning satellites, and finds a latitude and a longitude of the device in which the GPS reception section is included, on the basis of information contained in the radio signals. The GPS reception section sends the information on the latitude and longitude to a calculation section as position information, extracts GMT time information and date information from the received radio signals, and outputs the information to the calculator. The calculation section reads out, from the database section, the time difference information and summer time information associated with the position information provided from the GPS reception section. Based on the read-out information, the calculation section subjects the time information provided from the GPS reception section to predetermined arithmetic processes and calculates a local time. A display section displays the calculated local time.

    摘要: A time keeping system used to automatically adjust for daylight savings includes a processor having a preprogrammed internal clock module, a preprogrammed daylight savings time setting module, and a low power detection module. The preprogrammed internal clock module is programmed with a time, a date, and a year. The preprogrammed daylight savings time setting module is programmed with a plurality of daylight savings changes and automatically adjusts the internal clock to reflect a daylight savings time change. The low power detection module detects an operating power level. A primary battery is operatively coupled to the processor, and provides a primary power source to the processor. A frequency generating unit is also operatively coupled to the processor, and provides a frequency to the preprogrammed internal clock module. Furthermore, a clock movement unit is operatively coupled to the processor, and is configured to receive a series of timed-pulses from the processor.
