    摘要: An obstacle detecting apparatus is disclosed, with which obstacles can be reliably detected so that a self-controlled robot or vehicle can drive safely. The apparatus comprises a first section having a distance sensor, for measuring the distance of each measurement point of objects existing in a visual field of the distance sensor and obtaining a three-dimensional coordinate value for each measurement point, so as to generate a distance image; a second section for projecting each measurement point of the objects onto at least one of predetermined horizontal and vertical planes, where each plane is divided into grid cells, and the resolution of the divided grid cells is lower than the measurement resolution of the distance sensor; and calculating the number of the measurement points projected onto each grid cell in the relevant plane, and generating a three-dimensional histogram indicating the distribution of the measurement points in the grid cells, a third section for converting the histogram to binary data by comparing the histogram with a predetermined threshold value; and a fourth section for extracting one or more obstacles by performing a clustering operation on the binary data, and generating an obstacle map by which the positional relationship between the distance sensor and each obstacle is determined.

    摘要: System and method for implementing selectively index enabled multi-column lists in a graphical user interface for a computer system. The graphical user interface contains a table of entries organized by columns. The columns are displayed vertically adjacent to one another. A user selectable vertical line (the divider line) can be moved from an extreme left column position to a position between adjacent columns. When a column is between the divider line and the extreme left column position, the column becomes index enabled. A single column (e.g., the left most column) or multiple columns can be index enabled simultaneously. A column can be positioned between the divider line and the extreme left column position by column reordering, e.g., leaving the divider line in a fixed position and dragging and dropping the column from a position right of the divider line. By making a column index enabled, an index of the items of the column is made and when indexed, every unique column item is represented only once in the column by an index item. A user selectable two position representation (e.g., a triangle, arrow, etc.) can be used to open (expand) or close the index item. When closed, all information contained within the index item is collapsed in the user interface. When expanded, this information can be displayed in the user interface. The present invention advantageously provides advantages of tree-views (e.g., the ease of searching through data in a hierarchical format) while also offering advantages of multi-column list displays (e.g., volume of information presentation).

When the executing object becomes accessible, a buoy icon object is displayed on the computer screen. The buoy icon provides notification that the accessible object execution is complete or is ready to receive a user input. The user can either remove the buoy icon from the screen or select the buoy icon object to focused the accessible object. The newly focused accessible object can then be used. The buoy icon notification can be enabled or disabled on an object-by-object basis.
