The first opening is located at a proximal end of the retainer and a second casing portion is located at a distal end of the first casing portion. The second casing portion defines a passageway from the ball-end chamber to a second opening located at a distal end of the retainer. The passageway length is greater than the ball-end chamber length, and the ball-end chamber width is greater the passageway width.

    摘要: A nut for a stringed musical instrument is provided. The nut comprises of a bed that positions and supports a number of bearings over which strings can pass on their way from a bridge of the instrument to the instrument's tuning pegs. The bearings provide a rolling contact with the strings and thereby reduce the friction of the moving string over the nut. The nut can be provided with string capture mechanisms such as grooves, holes or keyhole shaped apertures, along and over the bearings to aid in locking lateral and vertical movements of the strings during play. Further, a string tree for a stringed musical instrument is provided. The string tree comprises bearings which offers rolling contact to the string between the nut and the tuning peg. The string tree increases the angle of approach of the string towards the nut, while the bearings offer reduced friction to the movement of the string over the string tree during the tuning and playing of the instrument.

    摘要: A foldable stringed instrument, for example in the form of a travel guitar that folds mid-neck to assume a reduced profile is described. The mid-neck folding is accomplished in a symmetrical manner about a three-part hinge located in the neck to configure the travel guitar into a reduced profile. The bridge assembly can be translated longitudinally relative to the head of the guitar to allow sufficient detensioning of the guitar strings to enable an upper portion of the neck to be folded away from a lower portion of the neck and/or body to assume a reduced profile. To deploy the travel guitar for playing, the upper portion of the neck is unfolded into alignment with the lower portion of the neck and/or body, and the bridge assembly translated longitudinally relative to the head and locked in position to allow the guitar to be tuned for playing.

    摘要: A string tensioner is configured to apply a substantially constant tension to a string over an operational range even if such string stretches and contracts over time. Tension is provided by a spring. Flexers can attach the spring to a force modulation member and a frame. The flexers preferentially bend out-of-axis so that the spring does not bend out-of-axis when the force modulation member rotates. A dampening system can slow the force modulation member's response to vibrational forces. A flexible stop can prevent rotation of the force modulation member beyond a desired point, but flexes to remain in contact with the force modulation member over a small range of movement.

    摘要: Disclosed is a locking tool for guitar strings and associated use methods. One embodiment provides a string locking device having a base affixed to a neck of the guitar. The base includes a compression bed bordered by proximal and distal sets of string channels, where the strings enter through the proximal channels, extend across the compression bed, and exit through the distal channels. The locking device also includes a press that is rotatively coupled to the base and a fastening mechanism configured to secure the press in a closed position relative to the base. The press may pivot between an open position in which the press is offset from the base and a closed position in which the press is secured against the compression bed such that the strings are secured between the press and the compression bed, preventing the strings from detuning during play. Other embodiments are disclosed.

The stop bar according to the invention arranged to attach to a sound board of a stringed musical instrument and to guide strings of the instrument, said strings are anchored to the stop bar at a first location and pass through guides formed in the stop bar so that a string defines a straight line from the first location to a saddle which separates the strings from the sound board.
