摘要： Stringed musical instruments and methods of manufacture. An instrument includes a body, a neck extending from the body, and a head extending from the neck. The head and the neck attach to one another with a mortise and tenon joint or a dovetail joint. The head and neck may be removably or permanently attachable to one another. The body and neck may also attach to one another with a mortise and tenon joint or a dovetail joint. A truss rod may extend from the neck to secure the head and neck to one another. The body, neck, head, or portions thereof may be manufactured from aluminum and/or a combination of metals. A neck assembly may include a reinforced spine, a grip member, a fretted fingerboard, and a tenon tongue or a dovetail pin extending from an end of the spine.

The mid-neck folding is accomplished in a symmetrical manner about a three-part hinge located in the neck to configure the travel guitar into a reduced profile. The bridge assembly can be translated longitudinally relative to the head of the guitar to allow sufficient detensioning of the guitar strings to enable an upper portion of the neck to be folded away from a lower portion of the neck and/or body to assume a reduced profile. To deploy the travel guitar for playing, the upper portion of the neck is unfolded into alignment with the lower portion of the neck and/or body, and the bridge assembly translated longitudinally relative to the head and locked in position to allow the guitar to be tuned for playing.

摘要： A stringed instrument has a stringed instrument neck that is removably attached to a stringed instrument body. A back plate is attached to a recess in a back side of the stringed instrument body. A latching mechanism can be mechanically affixed to the back plate. A latch pin retainer of the latching mechanism can include a slot formed therein. A latch pin can extend through the slot of the latch pin retainer, where the latch pin can be resiliently urged into a first position, with a lip of the latch pin operable to be secured against a latch pin catch disposed in the stringed instrument neck. A button is operable to move the latch pin into a second position with the lip disengaged from the latch pin catch, permitting separation of the stringed instrument neck from the stringed instrument body. A headstock can further be removably attached to the neck.

摘要： The fretboard system provides a replaceable fretboard with customized placement of frets along the fretboard for a stringed instrument. A configuration of magnets on the neck of the stringed instrument secure the fretboard to the stringed instrument. The magnets attract a metallic underside, such as a sheet metal, of the detachable fretboard. A separating layer, including but not limited to a layer of wood or other composite material, separates the magnets from the sheet metal. At least one, preferably two or more, reinforcing members extend longitudinally along the neck of the stringed instrument to reinforce the neck.

摘要： A guitar is a stringed instrument including a body with a removable lid, bridge/saddle ensemble, two-piece neck, and head (with string channels) so all parts can fit into the instrument's body. The body and lower half of the neck are assembled (and disassembled) using a tongue-and-groove system. The neck pieces are adjoined with repeatable precision using 3 steel rod and tube assemblies. The head slides on and off the end of the neck using two rods/pins and a neck conforming head-to-neck stabilization receptacle. The removable bridge/saddle combination uses a pivot, bridge stabilizer, and pin system to hold it flush to the body, and when pinned down, holds all other pieces in place via the instrument's string tension.
