Abstract: A display device includes elongated display tubes each of which has a discharge gas filled and a phosphor layer formed in the tube; a flexible sheet; a plurality of electrodes; and an adhesive layer. Each of the tubes is flat elliptical in cross section and has a plane section. The flexible sheet abuts against the plane sections of the tubes to support the tubes. The plurality of electrodes are arranged on the tubes abutting surface of the flexible sheet, for applying a voltage to the tubes to generate discharges within the tubes. The adhesive layer is disposed on the tubes abutting surface of the flexible sheet to bond the flexible sheet to the plane sections of the tubes so that the electrodes of the flexible sheet face the plane sections when the flexible sheet abuts against the plane sections of the tubes.

Abstract: Disclosed is a plasma display panel capable of improving luminance intensity having a discharge-cell structure which can increase conductance at the time of exhaust and increase the surface area of a phosphor. A plurality of barrier ribs with the plane shape being formed with curve are provided on a back glass substrate to which address electrodes and a dielectric layer are formed and phosphors are formed in the discharge cells between the barrier ribs. The curvature and the pitch of the curved surface of the barrier ribs are determined by the spaces of sustain electrodes and address electrodes. For example, a rectangle or a square under consideration of the spaces or the like of the display electrodes is set to be a structural unit. The curve is drawn as an arc tracing the diagonal of such quadrilaterals and corrugated barrier ribs are formed by arranging these in 180null rotational symmetry to each other along the address electrodes.

Abstract: An electrodeless discharge lamp includes a pair of opposed couplers aligned along an axis, a stationary light transmissive envelope positioned between the pair of opposed couplers, the envelope having an interior length along the axis which is greater than a maximum interior dimension of the envelope orthogonal to the axis, a light emitting fill disposed inside the envelope, the fill including at least one fill substance selected from the group of sulfur, selenium, and tellurium in a concentration of at least 1 mg/cc for each selected fill substance, and a power source connected to the couplers, wherein power applied to the couplers from the power source is effective to initiate and sustain a stable light emitting discharge from the fill. For example, the envelope may be capsule shaped or have the shape of a prolate ellipsoid. The lamp operates at low power and is stable without rotation.
