    摘要: In a method and apparatus for shadow mask tensioning, a shadow mask frame and an anchor frame are positioned in spaced relation defining a gap therebetween and a shadow mask is positioned on the shadow mask frame and the anchor frame with an interior portion of the shadow mask extending across the gap. An edge of the shadow mask is affixed to the anchor frame and the shadow mask is tensioned by urging the interior portion of the shadow mask into the gap. Once the shadow mask has been tensioned to a desired extent, the shadow mask is affixed to the shadow mask frame. Thereafter, the combination of the shadow mask affixed to the shadow mask frame is separated from the anchor frame.

    摘要: A tension mask frame assembly for use in a cathode ray tube is provided. The tension mask frame assembly includes a substantially rectangular mask support frame, having a first coefficient of thermal expansion. The frame is formed of a pair of opposing long sides being joined to a pair of opposing short sides wherein one of these pairs has an attachment zone. The tension mask, having a second coefficient of thermal expansion, is supported by the frame at the attachment zones along the opposing sides. The attachment zones are formed of a material having a coefficient of thermal expansion which is approximately the same as the second coefficient of thermal expansion in order to be matched with the tension mask.

    摘要: The present invention provides a color cathode ray including a pair of long frames, a pair of opposing short frames that are fixed to the pair of long frames and support the long frames, and a shadow mask fixed to the pair of long frames in a state applied with a tensile force. The short frames have substantially-triangular bent parts formed to protrude toward the shadow mask. Since such a cathode ray tube can decrease an internal moment of the shadow mask structure, the displacement of the shadow mask in a direction to recede from the phosphor screen surface of the color cathode ray tube can be suppressed and the q-value deviation also can be suppressed even if the shadow mask is expanded by heat generated by an impact of electron beams.

The frame comprises a bimetal element (or bimetal elements) which are constructed such that at a raised temperature the tension is released by reducing the distance between sides of the frame to which the mask is attached. The reduction in distance at the center of the sides exceeds, preferably by a factor 1.5 to 3, the reduction in distance at the corners of said sides.

    摘要: In the manufacturing process of a color display tube (1), the display window (3) is assembled with the funnel shaped part (4) in a furnace by subjecting them to a heat treatment. This heat treatment can lead to deformation of the color selection electrode (12), because in color display tubes (1) with an invar shadow mask (13), the diaphragm parts (15) are made from invar as well, while the corner sections (16) are made from iron in order to obtain enough stiffness. The difference in expansion coefficient between invar and iron leads to shearing of the welds (22) that connect the diaphragm parts (15) to the corner section (16). To overcome this problem the invention proposes to provide the diaphragm parts (15) with slits (23) or impressions (24), which are arranged so that no stress occurs between the spot welds (22) when the color selection electrode (12) is heated.

    摘要: A color selection mechanism of a cathode-ray tube is formed in such a manner that a large number of strip-shaped grid elements are stretched across a frame which has a pair of opposed support members and a pair of elastically-providing members fixed between the support members. In this color selection mechanism, the geometrical moment of inertia of each of the support members can be changed stepwise from a central part of each of the support members to each of end parts thereof by changing a ratio of a longitudinal dimension to a lateral dimension of an L-shaped section of each of the pair of support members stepwise. As a result, it becomes possible to increase the rigidity at the central part of the frame of the color selection mechanism and thereby improve the performance of the color selection mechanism of the cathode-ray tube.

    摘要: A tension mask frame assembly for a color cathode-ray-tube including a frame having four respective sides, two of the sides paralleling each other and having insert receiving brackets for supporting strand termination inserts therein and vertical mask strands welded to said termination inserts. The strands have a plurality of cross-wires extending perpendicular to the strands and attached thereto by a conductive bonding material. The wires and termination inserts are composed of materials having a first coefficient of thermal expansion. The frame and receiving brackets are composed of materials having a second coefficient of thermal expansion. The termination inserts thermally expand and contract independently of the frame and receiving brackets, whereby movement of the strands in the horizontal dimension is controlled by thermal expansion and contraction of the termination inserts and cross-wires.
