    摘要: A image intensifier tube (14) includes a housing (18) carrying a photocathode (22) and a microchannel plate (24). The housing also receives axially extending fine-dimension spacing structure (22a) interposed around an active area 22b of the photocathode and the microchannel plate to establish and maintain a selected fine-dimension, precise PC-to-MCP spacing between these structures. The housing includes yieldable deformable electrical contact structure (56′) for establishing and maintaining contact with the microchannel plate, and yieldable deformable sealing structure (58) allowing axial movement of the photocathode relative to the housing structure as the tube is assembled and the axial spacing structure controls PC-to-MCP spacing. The result is that the PC-to-MCP spacing dimension of the tube is largely isolated from dimensional variabilities of the housing and is established and maintained precisely during manufacturing of the tube despite stack up of tolerances for the housing and its components.

    摘要: A photocathode emitter as a source of electron beams, having an optically transmissive substrate patterned to define a protrusion, heat conducting material occupying the space surrounding the protrusion, and a photoemitter layer over the protrusion. The photoemitter is positioned on the side of the substrate opposite the surface on which the illumination is incident, and has an irradiation region at the contact with the top of the protrusion patterned on the substrate, and an emission region opposite the irradiation region, these regions being defined by the path of the illumination. The heat conducting material around the protrusion conducts heat away from this focused region of illumination on the photocathode to allow higher currents to be achieved from the photocathode and thus permits higher throughput rates in applications including electron beam lithography. In one version, the photocathode is fabricated using microfabrication techniques, to achieve a small emission spot size.

    摘要: A night vision device (10) with an image intensifier tube (14) includes an improved microchannel plate (22) which has an extraordinarily low indigenous population of gas molecules. Because of this low population of gas molecules, positive ions produced from these gas molecules in the high voltage operating environment of the image intensifier tube (14) are of such a low number that the image intensifier tube (14) will operate for a satisfactory service life even though the microchannel plate (22) has no ion barrier film. The microchannel plate (22) is also spaced much closer to a photocathode (20) of the image intensifier tube (14) than has heretofore been possible. Thus, improved gain and reduction or elimination of image halo also results from the present invention.

This device combines the best functions of the image intensifier, good signal-to-noise ratio and high logarithmic gain, with the electronic read-out functions either of a Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) or charged coupled device (CCD). Applications for this invention are primarily night vision systems where good low light sensitivity and high gain are required.

The interface package includes a first interface to the X-ray image sensor and a second interface to the computing device. A sensor holder is integrated with the interface package to hold the X-ray image sensor when the sensor is not being used. The interface package may include an electrical cable coupled to the interface for connecting the interface to the sensor or to the computing device. The sensor holder may be integrated with a housing of the interface package. Alternatively, the sensor holder may be integrated with a connector on the electrical cable. In other embodiments, the sensor holder may be attached to the electrical cable. The interface package may include a wireless e to a wireless sensor and/or to the computing device.

    摘要: The present invention provides an X-ray image detector (1) which can reduce the size of a whole apparatus associated with an X-ray imaging tube, reduce noise components of an output X-ray image even if an incident X-ray is very weak, and provide a distortion-free visible image or electric image. The X-ray image detector (1) comprises a vacuum container having an input fluorescent screen outputting fluorescent light, a photoelectric screen converting the fluorescent light which is output from the input fluorescent screen to a photoelectron, and an output fluorescent screen outputting a visible light image with the obtained electron, a plurality of image pick-up elements (3) arranged such that partially overlapped areas are outside an image taking area and taking the visible light image in a divided way, image processing circuits (4) so arranged as to correspond to the image pick-up elements and trimming a taken video signal, an output image processing circuit (6) obtaining a composed image and a display device (5) displaying it as one signal.
