    摘要: An adjustable restrictor device for controlling flow of induction air into an engine. The restrictor device may comprise a generally flat compact housing which is installed between a carburetor and intake manifold of an engine. The housing may have throughbores to allow air flow, which coincide in location to carburetor bores. The restrictor device may have two individual restrictors enclosed therein, each movable to positions which progressively obstruct and open the throughbores to control flow of inducted air. Each restrictor may be manually controlled in common by a rotatable control shaft. Threading of the knobs may be opposite handed, thereby enabling the restrictors to move similarly in effect as to controlling air flow but in opposite directions.

    摘要: Malaria in humans is caused by infection with Plasmodium species parasites including P. vivax. The biology and immunobilogy of P. vivax is distinct from that of P. falciparum. Provided are unique synthetic polypeptides and DNA molecules which encode them. Each of these molecules correspond to regions of the circumsporozoite protein of P. vivax. Each molecule comprises sequences corresponding to several repeats of the central region of the Pv 210 variant fused to sequences corresponding to several repeats of the central region of the Pv 247 variant. Each molecule additionally comprises sequences corresponding to either the amino terminus, the carboxy terminus, or both the amino and carboxy termini of the PvCSP. Also provided are vaccines comprising these unique sequences and methods of using these vaccines and sequences to prevent and treat Pv malaria.

    摘要: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for producing entangled photon pairs via four-wave mixing in optical fiber. The source of entangled photons is designed to be stable with no manual alignment. This is accomplished with proper system design using polarization maintaining fibers or polarization controllers with feedback control. The source may contain a method of switching the output from an unpolarized entangled state to a polarized state, where the polarized state can be used to more easily align subsequent photon measurement systems to the proper configuration for measuring the unpolarized entangled state. The invention further provides a means to engineer the apparatus, including the use of a periodic filter common to both entangled pairs, such that the wavelength spacing between the pairs can be optimized such that multiple pairs can be generated with reduced adverse influence from Raman scattering.
