    摘要: A self-terminating coaxial connector provides for automatic termination of a coaxial cable. The connector includes an internal termination resistor which is only connected in series between the central conductor of a first cable and a grounded body of the connector when a second cable is not installed on the end of the connector. When a second cable is installed on the connector, the terminator resistor is disconnected from the grounded body, thereby removing the termination from the central conductor of the first cable.

    摘要: A right-angle coaxial electrical connector (22) mountable to a circuit board includes a housing (24) having a plurality of contact-receiving passageways (32) and at least two coaxial contacts (36, 38) disposed in the same column defining a stacked configuration. Each coaxial contact (36, 38) includes an inner terminal and an outer conductor, the inner terminal including a right angle body portion (46) extending outwardly of the housing (24) and concluding in a first connecting portion (44) adapted for mounting to the circuit board. A metal shell (64) having two interlocking halves joinable at opposed assembly faces is disposed over the outwardly extending body portion (46) of the inner terminal thereof and engageable with the outer conductor for connection to ground. In one embodiment, the inner terminal is comprised of two terminal subassemblies (40, 52). As an alternative, the connector housing (222) could be used with an intermixture of board mountable contacts (36, 38) and cable terminated contacts (235).

    摘要: A coaxial connector having a useful frequency range extended to 26.5 GHz is characterized by two separate dielectric support members. A first dielectric member is injection-molded into the annular space between the center conductor and the outer shell at a location rearward of the center conductor mating region. Injection molding provides positive longitudinal support for the center conductor without use of means such as epoxy or crimping which cause higher losses and introduces mismatches around the center conductor. A second dielectric member is press-fit into the shell to surround but not contact the center conductor in the mating region. The second dielectric member is contoured to support the center conductor during mating, to provide the desired characteristic impedance, and to compensate for distortion produced by the gap subsisting between the second dielectric members of a mated plug and jack.

    摘要: This disclosure relates to an EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) filter connector which can be installed in the line between mating plugs and sockets normally used for terminating multiple conductors. This connector is used in an electronic equipment chassis or at a bulkhead junction box or, if necessary, between mating connectors in a cable run, where the metallic parts of the cable connector can be grounded. Conductive rubber or co-polymer elastometric washers are used to protect RF filter components in the connector from damage due to external stress. A high degree of EMI attenuation is provided by an integral metallic baffle having close fitting conductor holes which is located within the connector body.

    摘要: This invention relates to a simple, field installable, low cost, miniature, push-pull, quick connect/disconnect electrical connector system having a VSWR (voltage standing wave ratio) of less than 1.35 for all signal frequencies from 0.1 to 6 GHz useful for interconnecting coaxial cables having a characteristic impedance in the range of 50 ohms. The connector system is made up of a plug member and a jack member each comprising but three basic parts. The first part of each member is comprised of an integral tubular member of relatively soft electrically conductive material. The second part of each member is in turn comprised of a dielectric insert which is held in its respective tubular member by staking or rolling a reduced section of its tubular member''s wall. The front portion of the jack member fits into the front portion of the plug member and through the action of an internal shoulder within the plug member a predetermined spacing between the dielectric inserts held by the plug and jack members is established when the members are fully mated. Each dielectric insert is in turn bored to receive one of two matable pin-like electrical contacts each of which comprises the third part of its respective connector member. Each contact has a hollow rear portion which may be crimped to the center conductor of a respective coaxial cable and thereafter inserted into the bore of its respective insert and retained therein. The outer conductor of each coaxial cable may be crimped around a reduced section of the rear portion of each connector by means of a crimping ferrule. The aforesaid fixed spacing between the dielectric inserts acts to produce a high impedance relative to the impedance afforded by the dielectric inserts to effect the afore-referenced VSWR of less than 1.35 for signal frequencies between 0.1 and 6 GHz.

    摘要: A coaxial electrical connector comprises an outer contact assembly including a crimping and sealing ferrule that is disposed onto an outer insulating jacket of a multiple outer conductor coaxial cable and includes an inner annular recess in which is disposed a sealing member; a strain relief section of the ferrule is crimpable onto the outer jacket and an outer conductor of the multiple outer conductors of the cable is disposed on a ferrule element. A center contact is crimpable onto a center conductor of the cable and is insertable into a bore of an inner dielectric member of an inner contact assembly and secured therein, whereafter an inner conductor of the multiple outer conductors of the cable is crimpable onto an inner contact of the inner contact assembly thereby forming a terminated inner contact assembly. The terminated inner contact assembly is then positioned into a bore of an outer dielectric member of the outer contact assembly and secured therein when a crimping ferrule section of the outer contact assembly is crimped onto the ferrule element with the outer conductor of the outer conductors electrically connected therebetween.
