A broadband television receiver front end for receiving a broadband RF input signal and outputting an IF output signal is disclosed. A high pass input filter on the front end attenuates carrier signal frequencies that lie below a cut off frequency of said high pass filter. Thereby advantageously allowing for a number of carrier signals to propagate below the cutoff frequency in such a manner that these signals have a decreased effect on television signals propagating within a television signal band. By high pass filtering on the input a low noise amplifier disposed for receiving a filtered signal from the high pass filter does not amplify noise caused by lower frequency carriers. As a result an amplified signal provided to up-conversion and a down-conversion mixers results in an increased immunity to noise in the output IF signal from the front end.

As a result, it is possible to realize a switched capacitor circuit capable of attaining improvement in operational accuracy and low electric power consumption or high-speed operation.

A power-off protection circuit for an LVDS line-driver eliminates initialization problems in a local LVDS driver circuit that are caused by a remote LVDS driver when the local LVDS driver is disabled. The remote LVDS driver may introduce a signal into the substrate of the local LVDS driver when the local LVDS driver is in a power-off mode. A current source in the local LVDS driver couples power from a local power supply node to the local LVDS driver when power is active. A method and protection circuit connects the substrate of the current source to the local power supply when power is active, and decouples the substrate from the local power supply when power is deactivated. The remote LVDS driver cannot cause a false power supply signal in the local LVDS driver since the conduction path is disconnected. A first switching element couples a floating substrate node in the current source to the local power supply when the power is active. A second switching element couples the floating substrate node to a bias line when power is deactivated. The first switching element is deactivated by a rising potential in the floating substrate when the local power supply is in a power-off mode. The rising potential is caused by a signal that is transmitted by the remote LVDS driver. By isolating the floating substrate from the local power supply, false signals are eliminated and initialization problems are avoided.

A transmitting device transmits a continuous clock signal with a constant pulse period duration and a symmetrical sequence of low and high clock signal states in such a way that, at the receiver end, the clock signal has the same low and high voltage levels as the received data signal and it is subject to the same system-governed variations as the received data signal. An integrator at the receiver end receives and integrates the clock signal, and the integrated value becomes the reference voltage for the receiver unit.
