    摘要: Apparatus and method to process a pilot channel and a synchronization channel to obtain a combined noise estimate of the pilot channel and the synchronization channel that is synchronized to the pilot channel. The combined noise estimation is processed to determine a first noise component for a period when both the pilot channel and the synchronization channel are present. Then, the combined noise estimate is processed to determine a second noise component for a period when only the pilot channel is present. Next, the second noise component is subtracted from the first noise component to derive a noise estimation for the synchronization channel. The technique may be applied to the Common Pilot Channel (CPICH), and the Synchronization Channel (SCH) defined in a 3rd Generation Partnership Project standard specification.

    摘要: A code synchronous timing determining method comprising acquiring correlation values of a code at plural timings in each of a plural given time widths included in a given period, storing the correlation values corresponding to the plural timings, retrieving the maximal correlation value from the stored correlation values to register a retrieved timing corresponding to the maximal correlation value as the maximal timing, scanning the stored correlation values in a given direction to detect at least one minimal correlation value to register a retrieved timing corresponding to the detected minimal correlation value, extracting at least one correlation value selected from the correlation values stored at plural timings having a specified time interval from the maximal timing to the minimal timing as a high correlation value candidate, and holding timing data corresponding to the high correlation value candidate as timing information of code synchronism.

    摘要: An improvement to a code-division-multiple-access (CDMA) system employing spread-spectrum modulation, with the CDMA system having a base station (BS) and a plurality of remote stations. The base station has a BS-spread-spectrum transmitter and a BS-spread-spectrum receiver. A remote station has an RS-spread-spectrum transmitter and an RS-spread-spectrum receiver. The BS transmitter transmits a broadcast common-synchronization channel, which includes a frame-timing signal. The broadcast common-synchronization channel has a common chip-sequence signal, which is common to the plurality of remote stations. In response to the RS-spread-spectrum receiver receiving the broadcast common-synchronization channel, and determining frame timing from the frame-timing signal, an RS-spread-spectrum transmitter transmits an access-burst signal. The access-burst signal includes a collision-detection portion. In response to the BS-spread-spectrum receiver receiving the access-burst signal, the BS-spread-spectrum transmitter transmits an collision-detection signal with the collision detection portion. In response to the BS-spread-spectrum receiver not receiving the access-burst signal due to a collision with a collision access-burst signal, the BS-spread-spectrum transmitter transmits an collision-detection signal without the correct collision detection portion.
