摘要: In data communication utilizing a radio transmission channel, even in a case where the radio channel is disconnected and a data communication blackout occurs, the center side continues data communication processing, by obtaining information on a period where the data communication is interrupted in advance. The system comprises an application server provided in the center, a radio data communication terminal that performs data communication while moving, a mobile gateway provided in the center as a relay device between the application server and the radio data communication terminal, and a period notification device that transmits period information T at predetermined periods. The radio communication channel is disconnected by the period information transmitted from the period notification device, and the mobile gateway performs communication processing during the radio communication disconnection.

摘要: Method and apparatus for performance characterization of Ka band transponders wherein measurements are made. A wideband modulated data signal is used to test the response of the Ka band transponder. A periodic test pattern, preferably a pseudo-noise (PN) sequence, modulated on a carrier, is transmitted to an onboard satellite transponder which then retransmits the signal to a receiver where a down converter is used to output inphase and quadrature phase baseband signals which are digitized and used for measuring one or more of the following: Magnitude and phase response AM/AM and AM/PM Phase noise Bit error rate Data asymmetry I/Q channel imbalance.

摘要: A method for evaluating the performance of a LEOS system. The evaluation may determine the minimum and maximum number of hops or delay time required to service a particular source and destination pair or may evaluate the LEOS system as a whole. The evaluation may be used in the design of LEOS systems or to evaluate the performance of an existing LEOS system. This evaluation may then be employed to determine how and when the LEOS system should be employed in servicing communications. A LEOS system constellation is received that is to be considered. Then, a mathematical model for the LEOS system is determined. A source/destination location pair is then selected for consideration. Shortest, longest and intermediate path lengths are then determined for the source/destination location pair for the LEOS system. For each of these path lengths, the probability of occurrence of each of these path lengths as well as a corresponding delay is then determined. Further source/destination location pairs may then be selected for additional consideration. Once a sufficient number of source/destination location pairs have been considered, the performance of the LEOS system may then be evaluated.

摘要: A Performance Report Message or other message is received from a first device at a second device. The received message is revised such that a value of a Terminal Endpoint Identifier field in the message is revised according to a predetermined transformation, e.g., by incrementing the value in the Terminal Endpoint Identifier field. The revised message is then transmitted from the second device to a third device. The first, second and third devices may comprise devices of a wireless communications network, such as radio heads and/or a control part (COP). The message is preferably received over a first T1 link connecting the first and second devices, and the revised message is preferably transmitted over a second T1 link connecting the second and third devices. The revised message may be received at the third device, the revised value of the Terminal Endpoint Identifier field of the received revised message recovered, and a communications link and/or device to which the revised message pertains identified based on the recovered revised value of the Terminal Endpoint Identifier field, preferably in conjunction with a value in a Command/Response field in the received revised message.

摘要: An apparatus for transcoding an input elementary stream is provided. The apparatus includes a variety of components performing functions such as receiving the input elementary stream. A component for separating an input elementary stream into transform coefficients and their associated motion vectors is included. The apparatus also includes components for dequantizing the transform coefficients to form block transform coefficients, and determining a compensation stream using a feedback path. The apparatus combines the compensation stream from the feedback path with the block transform coefficients to form a corrected stream. The correlated stream is reduced to form an output stream having a characteristic data rate different from the characteristic data rate of the input stream. The combination of these components can provide a resultant digital video signal from the input stream.

摘要: The present invention provides an open-loop method for determining uplink transmission power in a satellite communication system 200 that compensates for antenna pointing error attenuation and for rain attenuation. Satellite downlink signal 208 attenuation is measured. Antenna pointing information is then used in conjunction with antenna gain pattern information 400 to determine antenna pointing error attenuation. The measured downlink attenuation and antenna pointing error attenuation are then used to determine the amount of rain attenuation on the downlink 208. The downlink attenuation information is then used to determine the amount of uplink 216 attenuation to be expected. Uplink transmission power levels are then adjusted accordingly to overcome the expected uplink 216 attenuation.
