摘要: Described herein are systems, methods, and software to manage prefixes for a route table in a gateway according to an implementation. In one implementation, a management service monitors a quantity of prefix routes associated with a route table in a gateway and determines when the quantity satisfies one or more criteria. When the capacity satisfies the one or more criteria, the management service determines one or more supernets that each represent a subset of the prefix routes and adds the one or more supernets to the route table to replaces the subset of the prefix routes.

摘要: In an example, when a network device receives a route advertised by a Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) neighbor, the network device distributes the route to hardware thereof, records the route into a linked list of routes to be advertised, and determines a BGP state of the device. If the BGP state indicates waiting to advertise a route, the network device updates the BGP state to advertising a route after a set time length and advertises a route in the linked list of routes to be advertised. If the BGP state indicates advertising a route, the network device advertises a route in the linked list of routes to be advertised.

摘要: The techniques disclosed herein enable systems to perform ordered reconvergence operations following a change to a topology of a communications network. To perform ordered reconvergence, a system detects a change to network topology such as a link failure or node addition. In response, the system determines a global delay based on a maximum distance between two nodes within the network, a local delay for each node within the network, and an ordered delay for each node based on the global delay and the local delay. Upon detecting that the ordered delay for a node has elapsed, the system can then update a routing table for the node. After updating routing tables for every node, the system can route data in the changed network topology using the updated routing tables.

摘要: A method is implemented by a network device to optimize the operation of a virtual private network (VPN) route refresh for border gateway protocol (BGP). The method reduces a span of VPN databases to be traversed to perform a route target constraint (RTC) update at the network device. The method includes receiving an RTC add or delete from a BGP peer, looking up each route target (RT) in a route target-route distinguisher (RT-RD) map to get a set of route distinguishers (RDs), and generating a VPN update for each VPN Address Family (AF) and each RD in the RD cache and sending the VPN update to a respective BGP peer.
