Abstract: The examples of the present disclosure provide a method and a device for determining a Segment Identity, and relates to the field of communication. The solution is as follows: receiving a first message and a second message sent by a second device; the first message includes at least one first Block Identity and a boundary address of an address space corresponding to each first Block Identity; the second message includes at least a second Block Identity and a first index value; calculating the first SID by using a boundary address of a first address space corresponding to a same Block and the first index value, where the same Block is a Block characterized by the same Block Identity in at least one first Block Identity and at least one second Block Identity. By applying the technical solution provided by the examples of the present disclosure, the overhead of messages in the process of issuing SIDs is reduced, thus ensuring the performance of devices and the stability of message transmission protocol.

Abstract: Techniques are described by which a routing protocol, such as border gateway protocol (BGP), is extended to control propagation and importation of information using route targets (RTs) specified as bitmasks that encode link administrative group information. For example, a network control device (e.g., controller) is configured to allocate one or more subset of resources (e.g., nodes or links) of an underlay network to each of one or more virtual networks established over the underlay network. The controller generates a bitmask encoded with link administrative group information of the one or more links. The controller then outputs, to a plurality of provider edge (PE) routers that are participating in a respective virtual network, a routing protocol message to advertise the one or more subset of resources, wherein the routing protocol message includes a route target specified as the bitmask.

Abstract: Various example embodiments for supporting autonomous path construction and routing in a communication network are presented. Various example embodiments for supporting autonomous path construction and routing in a communication network may be configured to support autonomous path construction based on flooding of path state advertisements within the communication network. Various example embodiments for supporting autonomous path construction and routing in a communication network may be configured to support autonomous path construction based on flooding of path state advertisements including information supporting construction of full sets of loop-free unequal cost paths between all pairs of network elements in the communication network. Various example embodiments for supporting autonomous path construction and routing in a communication network may be configured to support routing based on autonomously constructed paths that include loop-free unequal cost paths between pairs of network elements in the communication network.

Abstract: This application discloses a network slice information transmission method and apparatus. For example, a controller performs slice division on a network based on a service requirement and then obtains slice information, and sends the slice information to a first network device in the network by using a path computation element protocol (PCEP) packet, which includes first slice information corresponding to the first network device. After receiving the PCEP packet, the first network device parses the PCEP packet to obtain the first slice information, and further performs network slice configuration based on the first slice information. That is, in this application, the controller delivers the slice information by using the PCEP packet, so that after obtaining the PCEP packet, the first network device can obtain the first slice information corresponding to the first network device in a timely manner and perform network slice configuration without waiting for a configuration command.

Abstract: This application provides an address detection method and a related apparatus. The method includes: receiving a first internet protocol (internet protocol, IP) address from a first device, where the first IP address is a to-be-detected IP address of the first device; determining a first information table, where the first information table includes an IP address of one or more devices, and the one or more devices and a first apparatus are at a media access control layer of a same network; determining a second information table based on the first information table; and detecting whether a second IP address that is the same as the first IP address exists in the second information table, where a first media access control address corresponding to the first IP address is different from a second media access control address corresponding to the second IP address.

Abstract: In a network system, network switching devices such as routers may store routes to various networks. The system may on occasion be reconfigured, e.g., as new network switching devices are brought on line, or as servers are moved to new locations. Such reconfiguring may involve the storing of new routes in a network switching device, or the deletion of routes stored in a network switching device. As such, systems and methods for cloaking routes are provided.

Abstract: Signaling link or node failure in a direct interconnect network may be facilitated by recording paths between the various nodes in the network in a lookup table. whereby the paths are represented by a sequence of exit port numbers for nodes along with a terminator marker indicating the end of the path and thus the destination node. Each path in the lookup table may also be associated with a status indicator. As packets are broken down into flits and sent over the network. failures in links or nodes may be detected. Once a failure is detected, a path failure flit is sent back through the path in reverse with path information to notify the source node of the failure. Once notified of a link or node failure. the associated path is updated to reflect its unavailability.
