摘要： An induction heating system for heating an end length of a forging bar following the cut-off therefrom of a previously heated and forged end length is arranged to bring the end length to be heated to a uniform temperature despite the existence of a residual hot end portion from the previous heat. The heating system has an induction heating coil with a longitudinally extending axial passageway therethrough for receiving the bar length to be heated by insertion into a feed-in end of the coil passageway. A stop member is positioned adjacent the open other end of the passageway to abut the forward end of the inserted bar so as to locate it wholly within the passageway. Electrical circuitry is arranged to connect an AC power supply first to a partial portion of the length of the heating coil extending from the feed-in end thereof so as to heat the as yet unheated portion of the inserted bar end length to a temperature more or less corresponding to that of the residually heated endmost portion of the inserted bar length. Thereupon, the electrical circuitry then connects the full length of the heating coil to the power supply so as to evenly heat the inserted bar length throughout its entire extent to the desired forging temperature.

摘要： There is provided an apparatus and method for heating ferromagnetic abrasive shot to a selected temperature substantially above the Curie Point temperature of the metal forming the shot. An elongated generally cylindrical retort, having a central axis and a central passage and being formed from a magnetically permeable material having a Curie Point temperature, is divided into first and second axially spaced heating zones. Each zone is surrounded by a generally cylindrical surface portion of the central passage. A first inductor means is used for inductively heating the generally cylindrical surface portion of the first zone to a temperature below the Curie Point temperature of the retort material so that a major portion of the magnetic flux from the first inductor means is concentrated in the metal forming the retort. A second inductor means is used for inductively heating the generally cylindrical surface portion of the second zone to a temperature substantially above the Curie Point temperature of the retort material whereby a major portion of the flux from the second inductor means extends through the metal of the retort and into the central passage. The shot is conveyed through the retort as the retort is being rotated for first heating the shot to a temperature below the Curie Point temperature of the shot and then to a temperature above the Curie Point of the shot.

摘要： In a pair of surface-shaped silent discharge electrodes opposed to each other and separated by a predetermined space therebetween, phases of alternating voltages are applied to said respective silent discharge electrodes shifted in phase with respect to each other so that a silent discharge may arise alternately on either one of the electrode surfaces. A second alternating voltage is applied between the silent discharge electrodes and is alternatingly varied at a fundamented frequency twice as high as the frequency of the first alternating voltages applied to said surface-shaped silent discharge electrodes and is not inverted in polarity during the period when the silent discharge exists on either one of the electrode surfaces. Powder particles are passed through the space which separates the pair of surface-shaped silent discharge electrodes and charged in either positive or negative polarity continuously at a high efficiency.
