摘要： The present invention relates to a disposable dental appliance and, more particularly, a dental prophy angle used for cleaning and polishing teeth, especially, a prophy angle for holding a disposable polishing/cleaning cup-head/brush-head that is disposed after each application to a patient to prevent potential cross contamination. The disposable prophy angle for a handpiece preferably comprises an elongated tubular housing, a drive shaft, a driven gear rotor, and a prophy cup/brush-head. The tubular housing has a longitudinal and a transverse section in one integral piece with a proximal end adapted to couple to a standard dental handpiece. The housing further has an extrusion-molded socket on its top inner surface. The housing has a horseshoe-like locker to position the drive shaft gear against the driven rotor gear. The driven rotor comprises a rotor head, a rotor neck, a driven rotor gear, a cup flange, a cup neck, and a cup holder.

摘要： A magnetically controlled abrasive system (MCAS) having a magnetic system to manipulate a magnetically controlled unit is provided. More specifically, a track member is operatively coupled to a first magnetic unit and a first surface of a first body. The track member facilitates movement of the first magnetic unit with respect to the first body. A second body is positioned proximal to the first body. More specifically, at least one abrasive protrusion is operatively coupled to a second surface of the second body and a second magnetic unit is operatively coupled to the second body. The first magnetic unit generates a magnetic field which interacts with the second magnetic unit. The interaction controls movement of the second body including movement of the at least one abrasive protrusion positioned in communication with the second body.

摘要： A splatter guard for a dental cleaning tool eliminates the splatter by gathering splatter first on the outer lower one-third to one-half of the fructoconical prophy cup using combination of vanes and the dimples. As the splatter migrates upwards, the splatter guard wipes off the splatter. The reason the splatter guard is constructed smaller than the cup is because it allows the cup to flex outward without interfering during use thereof. The splatter guard can be attached several different ways, including slide in, snap on, secured between two half-housing members, or formed integrally with the housing, for example. The drive train is housed in a partial split contra angle housing which allows accurate positioning of the gears as it is required to ensure that the cup rotates concentrically and remains in touch with the knife edge of the splatter guard.

摘要： A home denture cleaning kit for cleaning dentures. The kit includes at least a one year's supply of dental pumice, at least a one year supply of tin oxide and an electric driven rotating brush. In a preferred embodiment the bristles of the brush are at least 1/2 inch long and no longer than about 1 1/4 inch and are aligned generally parallel to the axis of rotation of the brush. Dentures are cleaned by mixing about one gram of pumice with an equal quantity of water to form a paste which is applied to the dentures. The rotating brush is then used to brush the pumice-water paste against the denture material to remove film and surface stains such as those due to coffee and tea. After the teeth are cleaned, approximately 1/8 gram of tin oxide powder is mixed with an equal quantity of water and applied to the teeth portion of the dentures. The rotating buffing wheel is then used to buff the tin-oxide paste against the dentures in order to produce a shine on the dentures.

摘要： A powered toothbrush is provided with a pair of disc-like rotary brushes mounted for rotation about a axis generally perpendicular to the length of the brush. The rotary brushes are in axially spaced relationship and are provided with inwardly directed bristles. Between the rotary brushes, upper and lower linear brushes are mounted above and below the axis of rotation for linear reciprocating motion generally perpendicular to that axis. The upper brush has upwardly directed bristles, and the linear brushes are mounted to the rotary brushes so as to be brought into reciprocal, linear movement when the rotary brushes are reciprocated angularly.
