摘要: A pumpable mine ventilation stopping wall structure comprised of a pumpable bag having spaced walls of generally parallel nonporous and flexible sheets with the sheets retained in spaced relationship with spaced flexible cross ties. The perimeter of the spaced walls may be closed off with a permeable mesh having a mesh size which will permit restricted flow of cementitious grout therethrough for sealing the wall structure to surrounding rough mine faces. The bag is provided with at least one grout fill port for filling the bag by pumping cementitious grout into the bag.

摘要: A miner communication and locating system is disclosed. Two technologies used in the system include a communicator, and a locator array that may be used with a computer. The communicator portion allows trapped miners to continually signal without physical effort that they have survived a cave-in or explosion in a direct, mechanical, and reliable manner. The locator array receives the communicator signal for use to accurately identify where the survivors are underground, and facilitate their rescue; a computer can be used to calculate the position of the communicator from information provided by a plurality of locators: global positioning system receivers may be used with the locator array.

摘要: A mine ventilation structure is incorporated at the intersection of first and second intersecting passages in a mine. The ventilation structure comprises a tunnel-forming construction (e.g., a pair of side walls each walling off at least a portion of a respective mouth of a first passage and a deck spanning the side walls and connected thereto). The construction defines a tunnel establishing communication of air from the upstream to the downstream mouth of the second passage. An air deflector is located in the first passage adjacent the tunnel-forming construction for decreasing shock loss associated with the mine ventilation structure, thereby increasing the amount of air flow produced by the mine's ventilation system.
