    Abstract: The fluid pressure actuator includes an actuator body portion and a sealing mechanism. The sealing mechanism includes a sealing member into which the sealing mechanism is inserted, a caulking ring provided on an outer peripheral surface of the sealing mechanism inserted into the sealing member and restricting the sealing mechanism, and a locking wire that locks a sleeve to the sealing member. The sealing member includes a head portion provided outside more than the body portion, and an intermediate portion provided between the body portion and the head portion. The intermediate portion is smaller in size in the radial direction of the sealing mechanism than the head portion, and has an enlarged diameter part that expands toward the radial direction outside of the actuator body portion than the body portion. The locking wire is compressed and deformed to fill the space formed between the caulking ring and the intermediate portion.

    Abstract: A hydraulic actuator includes a tube capable of being expanded and contracted by fluid pressure, a sleeve covering the tube, a pair of sealing members that seal both ends of the tube in an axial direction thereof, and plural inner pieces aligned inside the tube so as to be adjacent to each other. The plural inner pieces include a restraint side where adjacent inner pieces are in contact with each other in the tube whose inside is not pressurized by the fluid pressure and a swing side where a gap is made at an opposed position to the restraint side to allow the adjacent inner pieces to swing with respect to each other. The plural inner pieces further include a restraint mechanism that keeps the adjacent inner pieces in contact with each other on the restraint side in the tube whose inside is pressurized by the fluid pressure.

    Abstract: A multi-stage actuator for a turbocharger is disclosed. The actuator may comprise a diaphragm having an axially movable portion. An actuating shaft is coupled to the axially movable portion such that axial movement of the axially movable portion causes axial movement of the actuating shaft. Only a first spring resists axial movement of the axially movable portion within a first range of axial positions of the axially movable portion, and both a first and a second spring resist axial movement of the axially movable portion within a second range of axial positions of the axially movable portion.

    Abstract: A textile actuator and harness system can include a harness configured to be worn with a portion extending across a wearer's joint. The harness comprises a substantially inextensible section and at least two mounting locations spaced for positioning across the joint, with at least one located along the substantially inextensible section of the harness. A textile envelope defines a chamber and is made fluid-impermeable by (a) a fluid-impermeable bladder contained in the textile envelope and/or (b) a fluid-impermeable structure incorporated into the textile envelope. The textile envelope is secured to the harness at each mounting location, and the textile envelope has a pre-determined geometry configured to produce assistance to the joint due to inflation of the textile envelope during a relative increase in pressure inside the chamber.

    Abstract: This invention discloses a pneumatic and cable-driven hybrid artificial muscle, comprising pneumatic actuator, pneumatic pressure regulating assembly, and cable drive assembly. The pneumatic pressure regulating assembly is connected to the pneumatic actuator to regulate air pressure in the pneumatic actuator for controlling the pneumatic actuator to extend or contract. The cable actuation assembly comprises a cable fixedly connected to the pneumatic actuator for controlling the pneumatic actuator to contract. In this invention, the artificial muscle employs a dual pneumatic and cable actuation mechanism. By leveraging the inherent stiffness of the pneumatic actuator, it can provide substantial actuation force for joint movement. Simultaneously, the cable actuation assembly can provide significant pulling force, effectively ensuring safety in human-machine interaction and offering sufficient bidirectional aiding force to individuals with disabilities who use the artificial muscle as an aiding actuation device.
