摘要: A firearm barrel, including rifling formed of an alternating, spirally-extending plurality of grooves and lands defining a twist angle adapted for imparting rotation to a bullet being impelled through the barrel from a chamber end to and exiting a muzzle end. The plurality of lands each include a reduced width component communicating with the chamber end of the barrel for a predetermined distance towards the muzzle end of the barrel. The reduced width component defines an acute angle in relation to a longitudinal axis of the barrel adapted to cause a bullet being fired from the firearm to prevent blow-by gases to exit the barrel in advance of the bullet. A method of forming the firearm and barrel is also disclosed.

摘要: A barrel for use in a firearm optimized to fire subsonic ammunition with high precision. The barrel groove diameter being within 0.0003 inch of the nominal bullet diameter and the barrel has at least 8 rifled grooves. Each of the plurality of rifling grooves has a sidewall formed from the bore diameter to the groove diameter, wherein the sidewalls formed are substantially parallel and the depth of each of the rifling grooves is shallow. The bullet is obturated as the bullet is forced down the bore. The plurality of shallow barrel grooves forming a plurality of raised lands upon the bullet. The obturated bullet having at least 50% lands formed around the circumference of the bullet body. The buffeting effect upon the bullet in flight by a transition shock wave upon the raised bullet lands is reduced by the plurality of bullet lands and the reduced height of each of the plurality of bullet lands.

摘要: A rifled barrel has a cylindrical channel longitudinally extending within the rifled barrel between an oppositely oriented muzzle opening and a breach opening, the cylindrical channel having a rifled portion and a non-rifled portion, the rifled portion having a land and a groove helically extending along a surface of the cylindrical channel from the muzzle opening toward the breach opening, the non-rifled portion being smooth and having a consistent diameter along a length. The diameter of the non-rifled portion of the cylindrical channel is equal to a diameter of the rifled portion measured between oppositely oriented sections of the groove. A transitional section of the rifled portion has a diameter measured between oppositely oriented land sections that gradually decreases along a section of the rifled portion adjacent to the non-rifled portion until equaling the diameter of the non-rifled portion.

The ridges may have a substantially arch-shaped cross-section with a rounded upper surface to provide minimal contact with a projectile such as a paintball being launched through the barrel. The grooves preferably provide channels to permit water and debris to be expelled from the barrel without interfering with the projectile travel. A plurality of apertures may be formed through a sidewall of the barrel along one or more of the grooves to further help expel water and debris, to impart spin to the projectile, and/or to improve a sound signature of the barrel.

摘要: A rifled weapon barrel has increases the piezometric efficiency of the weapon system with varying rifling profiles throughout the barrel to maximize useful work out of the propellant gases. The weapon barrel includes a first rifling section at the breech end which progressively increases in twist rate to induce a torque spike on the projectile and maximize chamber pressure. Next, the weapon barrel includes a second rifling section which progressively decreases the twist rate to a level that may be unsuitable for aerodynamic stability but provides relief from the torque spike while minimizing pressure loss behind the projectile. Finally, the rifle then maintains this twist rate or decreases to increase stability of the projectile before exit.

摘要: A jacketed bullet having a penetrator constructed of a hard material in line with a slug having a lower modulus. At least a portion of both the slug and the penetrator are then encased by a metal jacket. A plurality of circumferentially spaced and axially extending flutes are formed along the slug and possibly the penetrator. These flutes receive deformation of the jacket upon firing of the bullet into a rifled gun bore to thereby reduce friction between the bullet and the gun bore during operation.

摘要: A system for firearm barrel modification includes a firearm, a collar and an auxiliary barrel. The firearm has a barrel with holes extending inward from the first muzzle end. The barrel has rifling. The collar surrounds the barrel to serve as a securing anchor for an auxiliary barrel. A sleeve slidably engages onto the firearm from the muzzle. The sleeve contains a tubular component, serving as a barrel extension. The tubular component extends from within the sleeve to form a second muzzle at the opposite end. The mating end of the barrel extension is situated within the sleeve. It butts up against the muzzle and is aligned with the rifling of the gun. Alignment rods protrude from the mating end of the tubular component and insert into corresponding holes at the muzzle end of the firearm. A spring member attached to the sleeve sets in place over the collar.

摘要: This invention is a precision weapon that utilises solely as a projectile, a precision-ball made out of a suitable material namely solid C260 brass. It employs a smoothbore precision-barrel with a metal toothed rack/rail affixed along the northern hemisphere of the muzzle of the barrel that effectively converts some of the forward motion of the ball into rotational motion so that the ball is mechanically forced to rotate upwards/backwards at very high speed that can run into millions of rotations per minute, vastly improving it's ballistic coefficient and downrange accuracy. The weapon can be produced in a variety of existing types of firearms such as bolt-action, falling-block or semi-automatic, and can be chambered for a variety of calibers. A 5.5625 mm caliber bolt-action rimfire weapon for instance will provide a user with a weapon ideal for hunting small-game or for target shooting purposes.

摘要: A gun that has a plurality of frangible barrels. At the proximal end of each barrel is a chamber that receives a cartridge. The cartridge has a reduced charge as compared to a conventional cartridge. Each barrel may have an inner sleeve formed from a malleable material. The out member of each barrel is comprised of a rigid material such as, but not limited to, a filled plastic. The inner sleeve is rigid enough to withstand the pressure of the reduced charge cartridge when fired, but is malleable enough to expand from the pressure generated by a standard charge cartridge. When the inner sleeve expands, the outer member fragments and destroys the weapon. The expansion of the inner sleeve and fragmentation of the outer member upon firing a standard charge reduces the propelling force in the bullet. As a result, the weapon is destroyed and the bullet is fired with a greatly reduced force. The barrels on the gun don not rotate. The hammer is mounted in a revolving mechanism that is rotated in a circular path from one barrel to the next when the trigger is pulled. Pulling the trigger also compresses and then releases a revolving member that forces the hammer into contact with one of the firing pins.
