摘要: An electron paramagnetic resonant (EPR) instrument able to determine chemical properties of a sample using paramagnetic resonance is provided. In one embodiment, the instrument is able to measure the paramagnetic concentration of a wide variety of practical substances, ranging from food and beverages to biological specimens and solid-state electronic materials. The disclosed device can be portable and perform a measurement faster than commonly used techniques to quantify this parameter, including methods that use vibrating sample magnetometers and currently available electron paramagnetic resonance spectrometers.

摘要: A method for monitoring and evaluating the photocatalytic activity of a photocatalytic substance is described. The method includes dispersing particles of the photocatalytic substance in a 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-N-oxyl (TEMPOL) solution to form a photocatalytic suspension; introducing a gas composition to a reactor containing the photocatalytic suspension in the dark to form a purged photocatalytic suspension; illuminating the purged photocatalytic suspension with a light to initiate a photocatalytic reaction and generate a reactive oxygen species (ROS) that is detectable by an electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectrometer; introducing a portion of the purged photocatalytic suspension to the EPR cell in the cavity of the EPR spectrometer to generate an EPR signal and recirculating the portion of the purged photocatalytic suspension back to the reactor; reacting TEMPOL with the ROS to form a EPR silent compound; continuously recording the EPR signal.

摘要: A substrate 1 includes a color center excited by excitation light, and at least a pair of reflection members 21a, 21b are arranged with gaps from the substrate 1. The substrate 1 causes the excitation light entering the substrate 1 to exit through its surfaces without reflection, and the reflection members 21a, 21b cause the exited excitation light to reflect at the reflection surface 21-1 or 21-2 and enter the substrate 1, and cause the excitation light to repeatedly enter and exit the substrate 1 and thereby pass through the substrate 1 only a predetermined number of times. Here, the irradiating device 4 emits the excitation light such that the excitation light is incident to the reflection surface 21-1 or 21-2 with an angle perpendicular to one axis among two axes of the reflection surface 21-1 or 21-2 and with a predetermined slant angle from the other axis.

摘要: It is an object of the invention to improve processes, apparatuses and systems for measuring a measured variable. To this end, a measured variable is measured in a measuring process on the basis of an NV center as a quantum sensor. The NV center has a plurality of quantum states and is optically excitable on the basis of an occupancy of one of the quantum states into at least one excited state of the quantum states by means of an excitation light. The at least one excited state can decay at least with emission of emission light of the NV center. In the measuring process, the NV center is irradiated by the excitation light, the excitation light having a time periodic modulation, and a respective occupancy probability and/or a respective lifetime of the quantum states depending on the measured variable and the excitation light. A phase shift is determined between the emission light of the NV center and the modulation of the excitation light and a measurement value for the measured variable is determined on the basis thereof.
